and tell them they are acting unchristian when they themselves are unchristian at times. Isn't that being a hypocrite, which is, by the way unchristian? Why don't you just leave other people alone and let them believe what they believe?

To Mrs. Bear
I'm not being a hypocrite, because I'm merely pointing out a fact. I never said I was never unchristian. I sin too, just like every other human being on this earth.
My point is exactly your point. We are all human and we all err. So why do other christians have to bash christians who don't believe the same way they do? It doesn't make sense. How can they correct someone when they haven't corrected themselves?
Just let people believe what they believe. If they don't think the same way you do, fine, give your opinion, but don't call them names or say they aren't doing it right. You might just be suprised come judgement day, to find out that the religion or person you were bashing was right!

I'd imagine part of it stems from the faith vs. works issue. They don't believe they have to follow the example of Christ if they've said their sinner's prayer.

I can't understand it myself. I don't understand why some Christians feel the need to find enemies amongsts our brothers and sisters. We don't all view things the same way -- but I look at it this way ... there are four different gospels of the life of Christ. Four different viewpoints. God didn't trust only one person to record Christ's life. Many of us see things from a different perspective and we can all learn from each other. Instead we decide to point fingers and say, "See! See! That's not a real Christian!"
As a Christian who has been BASHED and flamed by fundies on this forum -- and I do not exaggerate -- I sometimes get angry and want to point fingers myself. But it does no good.
We're all working for the glory of God, even if we have different approaches. I hope one day we'll learn to all respect each other -- because lets face it, if we can't practice mutal respect with one another, we'll never get any respect from any one else.

Sadly that is just the way some Christians are. The reality of it, though, is that they shouldn't be worrying about the behavior of other Christians but their own behavior. If you can't get your own life strait with God, what right do you have telling some one else how to behave? The Bible says to remove the plank from your own eye before trying to remove the sprinter from your brother's. But human nature is always up for a fight and always wants to be proving some one else wrong. John Ruben did a very good song about that on his album The Boy vs the Cynic.

It's been like that since Christianity began. Even before the Catholic church was established as the state religion, Christians were known for forming groups with apposing ideas. Oftentimes, these groups formed mobs and attacked one another physically. These situations are recorded in history and are not debated. It's an interesting fact to say the least.

But aren't you being a hypocrite now? You believe in Christ, and are pointing out how people are being un-christ like.
When we believe something and we see someone who contradicts what Jesus taught, yet call themselves a Christian, it bothers us, and we wish to correct it. We are all unchristian at times, we all sin. I never tell a person that they are wrong, or that they are going to Hell. I do however point out when they are losing grasp of what Jesus taught. When someone looses their temper or tells someone to go to hell, it hurts me that they are acting like that when they, by studying the Bible, should know better.
It's not bashing in some cases, some cases are more like a slap in the face to regain composure.

People bash other people. And we are all sinners. It's hard work to behave in a Christian manner.
And people definitely should let others have their own beliefs. Why in the world so many people spend so much energy on trying to get other people to believe the same stuff they believe in, I'll never understand. What difference does it make? I don't get it. But sadly, most of the worlds troubles are based on this problem.

Some people think that as an atheist I'm out to tear Christianity down. I'm not. It's the Fundie/Protestant vs. Catholic dispute that will eventually tear Christianity down. I will be long dead by then.
As to why they do it, it is because they are miserable wretched people who need something to make them feel better than other people. Fortunately none of my Christian friends are like this, treating their (very minor) theological differences with good humor instead. Cheers.

Because to most people, especially Christians, if some one doesn't believe like they do then they are unChristian. It's sad but true.
The best thing you can do is to be the better person and know that God is judging them. I walk away from people like those with the knowing that they did not effect MY faith.

Some are keeping others on the path. Some fall into pride and become self serving. Some develop a new God and Christ based on emotions absent of the Word. Many reasons. While we are on the subject, how about this....
We should be asking why muslim sectarianism results in Muslim on Muslim violence and death instead of focusing on the division and brokeness of men in the Christian realm.

I don't even think that it is "each other" as much as I think it is one group bashes another and the group getting bashed just tries to defend itself. There is no other group that gets bashed like the Catholics on here. The True Mother Church. This is a form of Elder abuse

People are human and sinful.
Christians are not perfect, just forgiven.
Non-Christians are human, sinners, imperfect, ego-driven, lost.
If you deny that, then you are a hypocrite (look at the definition).
Why don't you leave Christians alone if you don't believe what they believe?
