I am a born again Christian and I have to say when someone comes up to me and says they are Christian, I am leary. There are so many false religions out there now claiming to be Christian you never know. Jesus said you'll know them by their fruits but that takes time. So I just slot most people claiming to be a Christian into my "I'm not sure" slot but I try to give them the benefit of the doubt.

I try to keep an open mind - and not generalize based simply on the word Christians (or any religion for that matter).
My experience has been that there are lots of Christians who think THEIR religion is the RIGHT religion - and the rest of us are going to hell. And - some of them take it a step further - and try to scare me with the idea of hell. Other Christians - a smaller number - live and let live. I try to concentrate on that style of Christianity.
Namaste!!

That is an interesting question, and one that my pastor has been preaching a series on.
We took a blackboard downtown with the word "Christian" written on it, and asked the general population what came to their minds when they saw that word.
Let's just say the answers weren't flattering, for the most part.
But we still showed the answers in church, because we don't shy away from the "big hairy questions."
And at our church, we are going to be intentional about changing that, one person at a time.

To be perfectly honest, I try to avoid them or try to. When I come across one I figure they will take one look at my necklace and rings and tell me how evil they are, and how I need to come back to Jesus. It has happened too many times for me to be comfortable with them.
Then I will be preached at for a while until I either escape them or get mildly rude and walk away.
Its really sad, but that is the feeling that they bring out in me. I used to have a good friend who was a christian, for a long time she accepted me, but then she just went wacky on me and started insisting that I attend church with her, she brought her preacher to my home, started preaching at me all the time, and finally married a man who would not allow her to have anything to do with me due to my refusal to attend their church and be saved.
That is why I avoid Christians now.
Why do I come here among all these christians? I am wiccan, I seek to help others understand our religion (wicca) and through understand perhaps end the fear of it.
If I meet seekers who are looking for answers to their questions all the better for it. I became Clergy to teach the old ways, the ways of the Wicca.
And if I can change just one mind, just one, then or aide in the education of one on this path, then I have done much for my religion and the pagan community as a whole.
Blessings

all i have to say is there are many hypocrites as christian's and often when people see us or those who claim to be they see all christian's the same way that's why people don't see god because we are no different then those who serve no god so when people say how do you know god is real i always say or witness to them and claim, and tell my story then threw my walk they will see god but if i trip for one second, for one day there never try to see god i think that's why god only chooses a few to tell his works because god knows are hart and i am pretty sure that's why the bible says "we all fall short to the glory of god" then follows up with the next phrase "But those who have Ears let them here write back if you feel what i am saying

If you're talking about Born Agains and Christian Fundamentalists and that type then you're talking about people with real problems. Many with serious mental problems.
If it's the average person who just goes to church and doesn't push religion on others then they're good honest people and are the backbone of America.

Often times what comes to mind are the evangelistic Christians. The main thing that REALLY bothers me about Christians is the absolute refusal of allowing other people their beliefs. This isn't all of them of course but many. I understand their good intentions at trying to save my soul from hell and whatnot, but just because I want to believe differently doesn't mean that I should be categorized as one of the many who fell off the path, tempted by Satan. Or even worse Satan's assistant or something else to that extreme. I believe differently, deal with it. I am allowing them their belief, and they should allow me mine without prejudice.

I don't think there is such a thing as a Christian any longer. There are so many denominations that vary tremendously in their beliefs. If just believing in Christ makes one a Christian then are Mormons, Hindus and Bahai Christians since they believe in Christ?
And I don't believe that some denominations are truly Christian. i don't consider Southern Baptists Christians. They are persecutory and follow many principles that are against the teachings of Christ including judging others and justifying violence in particular settings. That applies to Born Again Christians too. If you notice Born Again Christians are always trying to distinguish themselves from others by trying to identify themselves as the "true Christians" while everyone else is fake. That is against the very teachings of Christ. A true Christian focuses on benefitting others and improving society. A true Christian does not focus on alienating oneself by trying to identify the true Christians from the fake ones. If you think about it, Satan came up with a pretty clever ploy. He would get God's people to start persecuting each other in the name of God himself. I consider Southern Baptists and Born Agains cult members as opposed to true Christians. I feel this same idea applies to Johovas Witnesses and "Born Agains" as well. Born Agains preach about false prophets but the irony is they are the ones following the false prophets and being duped into persecuting others. They are not true Christians
A true Christian is defined by how one lives and not by what one preaches.

When I first hear that someone is a Christian I believe they are very moral people with strong family values. But I also picture them as being very judgmental and I feel ill at ease.
Sending you a smile to help pick up your day.

Hypocrisy, destruction, people who think they are better than non-believers, on a high horse, shouldnt be allowed in a church because of hindering other peoples spiritual walks, backstabbers, people who believe they get people saved by constant did respect and shunning, people who think its ok to invade peoples private lives in order to have proof for the pastors of their church that people are sinning, over all Christians are trash, if you pay your church thousands of dollars in tithes for years then something happens in your personal life your church will completely shun you away and laugh in your face regardless of what you have done for them although I think this is all ok for one reason and that is if church members are placing stumbling blocks in front of other members such as gossip lies and harmful words and actions. And the reason is because everyone sins I've never met someone that didnt but you cant build a close nit church family by stabbing each other in the back.
