My fish just died and I was just wondering????????

So Jesus is the blood sacrifice required to salvage our souls, etc etc, OK, OK.

But he was still "God" in the flesh, yes? And he was still endowed with magical divine powers, yes? So why did he choose to experience the pain of the crucifixion?

Basically, what I want to know is:

How would dying in comfort diminish the act of giving his life for the sake of all humanity? Or was the pain he suffered a key element in his "sacrifice"?

My belief is that you get equal repercussions for your actions either in this life or the next. Its fair and it is balanced in every way. To me, it reflects a just and wise Creator of the universe.

Christians believe you get an eternity in hell and I try hard to understand this concept but I cannot. Even the worst person I can think of-HITLER for example, after 1000,000 years in hellish torment and suffering, would have experienced 1000fold the suffering of all the victims of the Holocaust and their families. Isn't that enough? Shouldn't SOME kind of recompensation have taken place? Why does it have to be eternal? What purpose does that serve? To me its such a waste of an eternal soul capable of growing, learning, improving.

Let's say my daughter disobeyed me and ended up with some horrid disease. How long do I let her suffer before extending loving kindess and forgiveness to her? Why would a Diety less merciful towards his children inspire any kind of love an devotion in me?

I was speaking to a mormon friend and we were having a friendly debate, I showed him revelation 22:18-19 which states no man should add or take away form the words of this book. he then said rev.22-18-19 is only talking about the book of revelation. (after reading more of the chapter he may be right about that) he like many mormons say the book of mormon is of god because god can continue to add revelation to his word and he did so through joe smith. now can any give me some scripture that will help me prove my point that gods word is to remain unchanged and that he doesn't want any one adding to his word? I need another verse besides rev 22:19,

Missal compared himself to the Bible's Abraham, who was commanded by God to sacrifice his own son, and said he received a message from God to kill his entire family, Local 6 News reported.

"God had a plan for my family, I had no idea what that plan was," Missal said. "I trusted God and God was faithful to the end."

You claim that Jesus is the Son of God, because He has no father. The ancestor of all, Adam, also did not have a father. Is Adam therefore also a Son of God?

and the known scientific fact that the earth rotates on its axis giving us night and day? At the end of the movie "The Santa Claus" after Santa escapes from prison (who would of thought he is a felon) he is going to deliver presents to all of the kids around the world. There is only one problem with this (if we do acknowledge Santa as being real). The problem is that on the other side of the world it is already Christmas day. So kids in places such as Australia woke up and said "wtf are my gifts?" Why did all the Christians not realize this when they were rooting for Santa to go do his job?

Like many Western women, I've always believed that the Muslim hijab is nothing more than a symbol of oppression of women. To be fair, though, I decided to do a little research and was surprised by what I found.

In some cultures, veiling women is an oppressive part of tribalism, and that I do not agree with. However, Muslim women living in the West apparently often choose the hijab for religious reasons. They wear it as a sign of modesty before God and in an effort to avoid being seen as sex objects by men. However, that very obvious sign of Muslim faith has led to a lot of undeserved harrassment of Muslim women, particularly by Westerners who wrongly accuse them of terrorism.

So, particularly women of Christian or Jewish faiths, both of which have traditions of headcovering for women, would you be willing to wear a headscarf as a sign of solidarity with Muslim women who suffer ill-treatment for their faith?

I don't know if I would, but I'd like to know what you think.

People saying that marriage between two people of the same gender is a sin.
People saying that sex between two people of the same gender is a sin.
People saying that homosexuality is a choice and can be changed.
People saying that the Bible and the Qu'ran is the truth.
People saying that non believers will go to hell.

Once I asked the question here: "Why is religion legal? " and got many angry answers. Please explain again why discrimination against other is ok when it comes to religion.

I've always wondered a little at the people who gawked at others who picked up there cell phone in public. What is so different from talking to someone on the phone in public and speaking to someone whom you are with in public?? This is especially the case if the person speaking into the phone is talking in a normal, quiet tone that he or she would speak with when talking to someone sitting next to him or her?

I've run into situations where people at restaurants or people who just happen to be in the vicinitiy of someone on a cell phone with glance at them with an evil eye, but will not think twice about hearing the two people at the next table's conversation. I can understand if the person is talking loudly (at most family restaurants this is ignored as long as the person isn't on a cell), or if the person has been talking a while on the phone and is in the company of someone else if that person would feel a little miffed about it...but not other people.

If you haven't heard of this group, Google it and look at their website (they have several). They put the whole American Nation in a category of damnation, as well as the entire Catholic religion, in a very hateful manner.

Shouldn't we be able to do something about this blatant display of hatred, discrimination, attack, slander?? I'm willing to go to bat, just don't know what to do...
