If you haven't heard of this group, Google it and look at their website (they have several). They put the whole American Nation in a category of damnation, as well as the entire Catholic religion, in a very hateful manner.

Shouldn't we be able to do something about this blatant display of hatred, discrimination, attack, slander?? I'm willing to go to bat, just don't know what to do...

OK...all baptists are not athiests. And we do not all believe that God hates certain groups of society. But this particular group does not represent any values of Christianity & they are very offensive.

Any real suggestions on action that can be taken??

The church consists of members of the Phelps family. Technically they are just expressing their right to freedom of speech whether we agree with it or not. The most we can do is just hope they all die off.

One start would be to distance yourself from organized religion and particularly the baptists-they are an especially offensive and misanthropist cult that have managed to drag American society through the mud.

Sadly, because they are uniquely American opportunists with powerful lawyers, paid for by the very tithes of their "loving" congregations, their right to free speech is as intact as yours and mine, and you will have to endure their hatred.

Just keep in mind that although they fancy themselves conduits to God, despite their freshly scrubbed faces and giant platters of trans fat fried chicken eaten at stifling church suppers, they as a group won't get any further past St. Peter, were he actually to exist, than Jim Jone's 900 lost cyanide kool aid souls.

Organized religion is for the duped masses and swine. Think for yourself. Remember, God is already here and has been here since time immemorial. We are so polluted and jaded that most don't see him, even when admiring sunrises, a shooting star, a blooming flower, a mother's love.

I wish I could arm you with a powerful weapon. Instead, I just want you to know that although you are lonely in your correct position, you are not alone.

Undermining the authority of religion in people's lives would help prevent such cases as the Westboro Baptists, but as long as they continue to delude themselves there is nothing we can do to reach them. Its the same with any religious person - they just happen to be more hateful.

It's a free country. Westboro could make the same argument against people who disagree with them, like yourself. The sword cuts both ways.

Pray they come to God. But I expect them to do something stupid (like not pay their individual taxes) and wind up in the slammer, so one way or another this cult's days could be numbered.
