I don't do this during a sermon. Sometime when we're singing in church I do. I'm just moved by the love of God and for some reason it comes naturally. I don't stick my hands up way in the air waving them or anything, but for some reason, closing my eyes to concentrate on the words and music, and lifting up my hands to God, it just feels so lovely and worshipful.

Arms extended while praying is an alternate form of praying as is praying on your knees with your head bowed and your hands pressed together. The upward extension of the arms actually forms what is call a ciboreum into which it pleases God to pour His grace. Not that a whole lot of people know that, but that's the reason.
Priests do this at certain moments of the Mass as well, so it's not just born again Christians.

Submission to God. Praise to God. Lifting holy hands.
Why do people raise their hands at music concerts? Lesser reasons for sure. Yet they are not questioned.

You see, we raise our hands to worship God because that's what scripture says we should do. You can't as a Christian accept parts of the bible and rejected others. Open up your bible and read, I promise you'll learn something.

They do as the hypocrites do. They like to make a show of praying in public places. It adds a little spice to their already inflated egos.

It's to make people ask questions.
If you are serious, and I doubt it you would be a little more forgiving on the remarks. Oh well, you don't know.
It shows that the person is willing to be open and give himself/herself to the Lord, without reservation.
