Probably doesn't belong here but lots of questions here don't really belong here either.

Since I have got to recognize a lot of the folks out here I was just curious and I figure no should fight over this.

Me I am 34 and have girls 18 and 13 a 3 year old son and a 1 year old grandaughter. As well I have a 17 year old foster daughter/family friend staying with us 3 years now, and another that was with us for 6 months.

What about you?

Would it really be doing good if there was no alternative?

Is this, perhaps, the reason for satan/lucifer/hades/whatever you wish to call it?

For Christians, if you knew there was no God, would you still do the right thing?

[Perhaps this is a reason we should respect atheists that do the right thing anyway??]

For Non-Christians, why do you choose to do the "right" thing, without the fear of punishment?

This is not intended to be an anti-Christian vs. Christian argument, and I am not trying to demean either. I am honestly curious. Please don't take offense!

When I say highly Christian, I mean they go to church 3 times a week, go to several Christian camps, and make rude and sarcastic remarks about other religions.

So, advice please, on how I can break it to them that I'm atheist?

There are many up-and-coming countries that are becoming more and more prominent in the global economy. Which of the following languages would be the best for a businessman to learn? I've put my opinions about whether I think their countries will become more important in the global business sector. countries French(not likely), Japanese(very likely), Latin(no country), Spanish (useful not neccesarily global-wise, but there are many Latinos in the USA.)

I always wonder what are the reasons why people claim not to believe in God? where did humans come from if not created by God? How did earth come about? why does the quran which is thousands of years old describe the stages of a baby in its mothers whome and how stars are formed and much more if theres no God?..theres no way that people from prophet mohammads time knew that...it was God that taught them! so why dont people beleive in God in general?

This question is completely serious- I really have always been curious:
What makes you feel your "walk with Jesus" is not religious?

You read the same book as other Christians.

Your church has a male leader: Jesus

You follow pretty much the same rules as each other

Most of you go to church

These are all qualifications for religion. If you call yourself a Christian how can you say you are not part of the Christian religion? Obviously people go about their practice differently, but do you see what I mean? Honestly it sounds to outsider like you just consider your path better than other Christians.

Is there a real reason for these claims?

He's making his list, checking it twice, and he's going to find out who's naughty or nice. They say he sees you when you are sleeping, and that he knows when you are awake. He knows when you are bad or good, so be good for goodness' sake.

Now, according to the Bible, God also has a list and is going to judge people. He knows the wheat from the chaff, and He watches over us when we sleep and are awake. And he wants me to be good, for goodness' sake.

God and Santa seem to want the same thing. Could they be the same? I asked God to be with the suffering, but they still suffered. I asked God to lead me not into temptation and then got tempted all the time. Jesus said whatever I asked for in his name would be granted, but I don't remember that ever happening, especially when I asked for all child abuse to end.

God wants what Santa wants, and God answers prayer no better than Santa. There is as much proof for God as there is for Santa. Maybe believing in either is stupid.

After the industrial revolution and specifically with the beginning of electronic culture, media lost a great deal of epistemology and culture became produced massively. This was the beginning of modernity. Today, we live in a post-modernity world where advertising is omnipresent and where we are surrounded with millions of images and symbols that are trying to convey us messages, values, norms, and ideologies.

I'm only a teen and have been reading about the Wicca religion for a little while now. Why? I’m starting to question the Christian religion while Wicca is starting to attract me.
Though I'm not going to jump into that religion and abandon my current one, Baptist, especially since I'm young, still doing DEEP research and have not talked to any Wiccans personally, I'm scared my family is not going to accept even this interest.
Even if I show the slightest interest and curiosity in this neo-pagan religion, my family will FREAK. I'm terrified of their reaction. I actually have a phobia of what they will think!
Therefore, I'm terrified of doing further research. The worry of "what if Christianity is the only religion" and "hell" has been burned in my mind.
So what should I do? Stop my research so I don't get caught up? Wait till I'm older?
