If you were stranded on an island and could only have ONE book of the Bible with you, which would you choose? My Bible study I'm in asked me this the other day and it got me thinking. Of the people they polled, the majority chose Romans, feeling that it was the most concise book on all essentials of Christian faith. Personally, I think I would choose Philippians because it is a book of joy; true joy found in the truth of Christ, knowing that God is strong than death and often turns evil into good. I love that the most joyous book in the Bible comes from the pen of an author chained up in a Roman prison.

What book would you choose, and why?

I am a newcomer to Yahoo Answers. Since participating for the past few days, I am now convinced that the Internet will be the downfall of many souls who otherwise would have never been willing to voice their lies and slanders, slanders for which they will one day give an account.

I am convinced there are no more evident sign of the degradation of man and his hopeless condition than the proliferation and even exaltation of cowardice via this forum.

I am further convinced that many others are being led astray in honoring or following the anonymous siren songs of comfortable cowards who, in another age, would not have dared to lift their heads or their voices before real men of honor.

It is a Sign of the Times, and it is sad to behold.

This is the corollary to a previous question I wrote about ALL of my ex's not including me in their family at all. My girlfriends never acknowledge me as family (my last relationship was 5 years long!) and try extremely hard to keep me away from their families. ALL of them are openly lesbian. I refuse to date anyone "in the closet". However, I'm a little tired of spending all holidays alone while my girlfriend goes to see her family, etc. Although I lived with my most recent ex for 3 of the 5 years, her daughter thought I was "just visiting" every single day... Is there a legitimate reason for this behavior?
I feel like I'm totally worthless because of this. However, I am a successful singer, a world champion athlete, and am now in law school. It doesn't make any sense to me at all.

Why does it seem so hard to see that America,a nation that {at least started out} being Christian,is the one being the most blessed?

On the opposite side of the planet (from where he lived)is where all of the most prosperous and blessed people live.

Doesn't that show the world that the God of the "bible" is blessing those that aknowledge him?

I'm asking a serious question here,not trying to preach or convert. But, look around!

Me and my friend were both upstairs in my new house when my mother yelled my "JESSICA GET YOUR BUTT DOWN HERE!!!" And when I went down my mom scolded me about a scorch mark on the floor, apparently the lamp on my geckos cage was standing with its light standing down onto the floor, and there was a scorch mark on the carpet from where the lamp burnt, I mean BURNT the carpet. Apparently if my mom hadn't gone down there now we would have had a house fire, while we were asleep. (we were just getting ready for bed) that could have killed us all! Me and my friend, (we're 21 in from cali) weren't down there when this happened and this week we've been hearing movement around the house and I heard some one down stairs repeating the word what in an angered tone. Nobody WOULD have done this and my mom just moved into the house a couple weeks ago. The lady who lived here had lived here for 30 years and her husband died in this house, whats going on and how do we stop it?

Would that include newborn babies? I've gotta ask this, then, what kind of logic is that? Does that really make sense to you? Either way, this one would do her best to save your life no matter what religion you are. This muslimah knows her religion and her heart, and this muslimah also knows that seeing anyone in pain or saving somebody no matter who from death is one of the best things a person can do. And no, I don't want to convert anyone either. Just show true Islam, not the stuff the nutcase terrorists practice for political gains. What do you think of this verse?

That means you think you are better than God. Because you would never condemn you child to eternal hell. All man made conceptions. NO one goes to hell eternally, That is King Constantines doing. He made the bible say hell is eternal and added Pauls teachings who never even met Jesus. i think japanese guys are less honest and white guys are more honest because of the culture and also japanese people think Whites are rude and loud and lazy etc because of the culture and i think maybe its true.
