That is rather dependent on the individual.
Personally, I suggest that you find someone with whom you wish to spend the rest of your life, someone you can love and trust, before having sex. You don't need to be married for that kind of feeling to exist. At that point, who cares whether some priest or judge has said you're recognized by God or the law? Words mean nothing; actions and feeling mean everything.
But I do not presume to force this upon others.

Good! If they aren't worth marrying why on earth would they be good enough to give your virginity to. Besides who wants to remember for the rest of their lives that their first time was "with some guy/girl I went out with for a few months and don't even talk to any more." What a waste!!

It's neither. It's a choice or decision you have to make. There is good, but there could be bad. It's what ever you are comfortable with.

well, even from a purely secular point of view, it makes sense to wait for "the one". no commitment, no sex. that way, a) you're not going to sleep around with a bunch of different ppl in your lifetime, therefore reducing risk of STDs and not passing them on, b) you're ten times less likely to be used by someone who's willing to wait long enough to marry you (not that it never happens), and c) you'll be able to give your entire self to your spouse on your wedding night. no one else will have loved you like they will, and you will have loved no one else like you love them.
