Would you agree, or do you think that people who have been taught from an early age ( e.g. religion) / experienced something at an early age (e.g. sex) are more likely to be fanatical or obsessed by it?

Feel free to discuss this in terms of religion, sex or anything else. Please give reasons, not just opinions.

The Carmelite sister leads a contemplative life, a considerable portion of her time being devoted to Divine service, meditation and other pious exercises, the rest occupied with household work and other occupations. The life is necessarily strict, the fasting severe, and there are many opportunities for exercising virtue.

A man dies and goes into the waiting room between heaven and hell. There are 2 identical doors guarded by 2 identical looking guards. The guard at the door to heaven will always tell you the truth, and the guard at the door to hell will always lie to you.

What question could you ask them to establish which is the real door to heaven?

Some languages change constantly -- just try reading Chaucer's Canterbury Tales in the original Middle English. Then (in English, for example, thanks to Shakespeare and the King James Bible), other languages have something happen that slows down that change. Which (living) language has been preserved at or near its ancient form for the longest?

I have heard and read so many things about the christmas season and all the people who call themselves christian hold fast to the traditions of their ansestors. Christmas was put into place by the Catholic church to combat the winter solstice. I know that Christ was not born on this day so i am not going into that. Where I am going is with the word Idolater. This word is from the greek Eidoloatres and means = a worshipper of false gods used of anyone even christian, participant in anyway in the worship of the heathen (pagan/gentile). Now partcipant is = Sharing in or taking part. Involve is a synonyme of participate which is = To have as a part. So if idolatry is a sin and states so many times in the bible (1 Corinthians 5:10&11, 6:9 10:7, Ephesians 5:5, Revelation 21:8, 22:15) then why do so many still celebrate this season. I am a true believer in Christ and God so please do not try to tell my that I know not what I am talking about. Praise be to God not man www.thetruthfromabove.com
