We will still have freewill to do as we please. To have him show himself will remove all doubt in something that on the surface seems as ridiculous as any pagan myth.
So many will be saved from hell if he would just do this so we wouldn't have to rely on a 2000 book. We all know how things can be changed over a short period of time, look at how rumours evolve at work or in school in an afternoon, nevermind over centuries. I know a good amount of people that are nice by any current standards but will probably end up in hell because their strength isn't strong enough in tales of talking snakes and miracles that could be replicated today by Criss Angel.
I am a Christian but I am guessing I am not alone in posing such inquiries.

We have a 3 year old and my wife will be delivering in the next 2 weeks. Ladies out there, what's a gift for a mother who would have a 2 week old and 3yr old for Christmas? I'm sure she'll stressed by this point. :(

Seriously, there are some really stupid questions. With all the dumb questions that people ask I'm honestly surprised that I haven't seen something like, "Where do I put a tampon?" or "What condom type is the best condom?" There was one question about "Whats the best non-alcoholic beverage to give to children on thanksgiving?" WOW! How stupid can you be? Try: Milk, Soda, Juice, etc.
There was another question that went along the lines of "What potatoes are the best to make mashed potatoes?" Try: ASKING SOMEONE YOU KNOW or going to the grocery store.

one argument christians use is the causality argument, saying that if the universe exists, then there had to be something that created it

I was wondering what other people have to say, arguing against that.

I think i remember betrand russel writing that, for all we know, whatever created the universe, may have been created from something that was a part of endless line of universes creating universes.

I would also add that even if a "prime mover" existed, it does not necessarily indicate that it is the "christian God"

any other arguments?

I have been lucky enough to live and experience different cultures,
I have lived in Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Holland and United States. While living in Europe I have never meet anyone,not even religious people, telling me if I did not believe or practice Christianity I would burn in hell .Please do not take this as an offence, I am very serious, while here in the States I keep hearing , especially looking at so many posts on yahoo, that if you are not Christian you will burn in hell for the eternity. I have hard time understanding, is this an American thing?
I can assure you when I did mention this to my European friends they were laughing about it. I am not trying to offend anyone I am being very honest. I also do not think using threats of hell is very productive, if your intent is to show love to another human being saying to convert or end up in hell does not seem very loving to me. In any case, I am puzzled by the fact that
while living in Europe no one has ever said that to me. I cannot comprehend why do people say such a thing in the States.
