They claim different races exist in africa but they claim it doesnt in europe athough people in both continents vary in phenotypes

Umm, multiple race does in fact exist. I am an Elf. My cousin is a Dwarf. My friends are Orcs. My enemies are Minotaurs. And I've never met a Centaur but they do exist very much. They generally run corner stores.

There are four races native to Africa: *******, Pygmoid, Caucasoid, and Khoisanid.
There is one race native to Europe and that is Caucasoid. Actually, there are more than that in Europe if one accepts the new meaning of race.
Above are the basics and actually old and probably dated classification. You are right people on both continents vary a lot in phenotypes. This is a very tough issue and nothing is really to hard and fast. Physical anthropologists do the best they can. And, today their work is generally free of racism. This subject is constantly revisited, especially because of new genetic evidence. The page cited below will give you a good idea of what is going on in this area. The classification of people into races or subspecies is not totally arbitrary but it has an arbitrary element to it.
Above I use the old system of races, this has been improved on. But you asked about race. Today the term that used to be used for race is subspecies and then the subspecies is broken down into race. Confusing, I know.

That is the idea of the Europeans, trying to divide the same race.
Of course, Africans have a different looks and skin color, for example Africans in the East and the West look different, than you have the damn Arabs up North. However, they are still Black as a race. The White man got confused about the Black race, where as the White race they all look the same color, the Black race is all different, there are light skin people, to brown to dark skinned and all of them are Black.

Race isn't real. It's a social designation, if you will. It's all subjective. People will claim that certain groups are different races while others will claim they are the same. Therefore, anyone that says they are making any objective statement about "races", doesn't know what they're talking about.
