I seem to be a mass consumer. I have tons of stuff but feel the need to acquire more. Why is it that I just can't live a minimalist lifestyle?

I’ve watch that MTV cribs thing with the Moby, that guy is F’ing loaded and he has nothing. No overload on dust collecting products sprawled throughout his house. How do you reach such a nirvana of living?

I've been looking through alot of these questions that are posted by middle schoolers and high schools talking about their bad hair day or the fact that the guy they like wont even look at them!...well the truth is I think that with everything that comes at you that is a "problem" we should ask ourselves "is this really going to affect me in the long run" usually the answer will be know hunnies! in 10 years when you are married with children and have a great successful job, nobody is going to call you up and say OMGG I REMEMBER WHEN YOU HAD A BAD HAIR DAY IN 11TH GRADE! soo if you happen to have that oh so horrible bad hair day or have a petty little rumor being spread about you..ignore it! because in the long run it will not affect you :-] just a though...

There are plenty of examples of languages simplifying their inflectional systems over time, such as Latin's complicated inflectional system simplifying into the much less complicated system of the modern day Romance languages, or the inflectional system of Old English simplifying into the English of today, or the slow death of the genitive case in modern German, but how do languages develop such systems in the first place? How do languages go from having a simple system to developing an intricate inflectional system such as that of Latin or Old English? Are there any linguistic examples of this happening in the history of language?

I have realized recently the Buddhism is the way to self and spiritual enlightenment. I have very basic knowledge of meditation from a beginners class, but can any Buddhists share their techniques for deeper meditation? Where would you suggest I go on my quest to further my meditation.

Please, I ask no one that follows a different path to respond. Please be courteous. I do not need to know that you are not a Buddhist.

My story:

Age: 25 Sex: Female

Graduated college with Bachelor of Science. Have no interest in my college major (forestry) whatsoever, but continued on because I wanted to graduate.

Now I find myself stuggling from temp job to meaningless temp job each one less satisfying than the last.

I'm broke, with student loans to pay back. I live in Austin TX.

Likes: Computers (not programming though); Outdoors (but not 100 percent of the time); Music (but I cant play or sing); Dogs and Cats; helping people that want to help themselves; organizing

Dislikes : Stupid customers (customer service/retail food service etc); Telephones (call center crap)

I need a job that actually requires intelligence and drive and a college education!

help, i'm frustrated

or even bisexual? I mean, people say that certain people just are or are not. But what causes that. I don't think genes would, or that person's parents would, Wouldn't they?

What made you "perceive" them , the way you do? Did you have any particular experience that confirms your perception? It may either be positive or negative. It is still a predominantly "free" world but no expletives please.

I am a muslim TA at a university in a midwestern state here in the US. I am 3 years into my PhD program. Now, I am contemplating wearing a head scarf (traditional hijab for muslim women). My qustion is, how are my undergraduate students going to respond to me and also, the other American faculty members in my department? Will the students evaluate me badly because of my religious beliefs because in the past I have had really good evaluations. I am sure it is going to put up hinderances in my path once I start looking for a job but my greatest concern is whether it will affect my quest toward a PhD degree negatively. Please answer this question honestly assuming that you were an American undergrad or full-time tenured professor? Should I talk to my faculty before making this decision or just give them a surprise and come to the department one fine day all covered up from head-to-toe? What do I do?
Thanks!

There's a fancy word for an "about you" page, but I can't remember what it is. It's nothing common like "biography" Any thoughts?

which happens to coincide with the very first year evolution was taught in schools? Only one logical explanation, people finally found a way to leave God out of the equation, meaning they could live their lives as they chose to with no answering to ( they think) to a Higher Being.

$5000 or 5000 prayers?

If you accept $5000 over 5000 prayers, you're not a true Christian and you have to burn the bible in front of millions to get the money

If you take the 5000 prayers, you get to go home broke but you get a certificate for being a true Christian
