I have a say that this a very broad question. India is home to many different cultures and they vary in beliefs within themselves. So there is no black and white answer to this. Anyway, being born in Indian and having lived in Australia for 8 years I will try to answer from personal experience.
My first impressions were very positive. I appreciated the organised way of life, openess to new ideas, good governance etc. What always disturbed me was the lack of stability in the familiy aspects, lack of respect for elderly people etc. Again this is not a blanket statement but to someone new to the west it might easily seem so. Another thing which strikes is the 'me' approach of the west as opposed to the 'us' approach still prevalent in India. Anyway, after a few more years and interactions I realised that familiy/social life is lot more stable than what it seems on the surface/propagated by media and I met an overwhelming number of dedicated parents.
We could continue this discussion on various aspects and its too hard to type that much ! Feel free to contact me on yahoo msg> kingbaljeet.

India has been a melting pot for over thousands of years.....
people here have come (as traders, refugees, warriors, wanderers) and settled since long. For many, the roots can be traced back to africa, europe, central asia (though it would be a laborious task to do so). But, because of inter-mingling, there is a certain amount of homogenity in the society.
I often tell my american friends that in few centuries, America will become what India is....esp. since, it is the melting pot for the modern world.
If one is to look at europeans, americans or other foreigners with this perception, it is quite obvious that India represents their future and they represent India's past in many aspects.....it is only a matter of time when the next wave of human migration begins and hopefully this time when it stops for a breather, most of the world will resemble India.....

you're VERY Observant. -and likely correct !! :o the priority IS; for the previous few many years in this u . s . a .- Our Society & its Leaders, have inspired the academic equipment to promote more effective organisation & provider suitable topics- cuz "it really is the position the $$$ IS ( or so the wondering became...). This "encouragement" has siphoned AWAY many students that would want to otherwise have gone into the maths & technology suitable fields... This progression does not bode nicely for us of a's destiny impact contained in the international... And if we do not readjust our educational priorities quite quickly, lots of the Technological experts in this u . s . a .- at the instantaneous are not likely to be FROM this u . s . a . !!! :(

frankly they live in a totally different world that isn't THAT different!! its just that our values are different from theirs.... they're more open about their sexuality to such extent that at times u end up in feeling repulsed. never really met many americans, just online.... n they're sane!! lol.they're the same as we are... no freaks, which contradicts my earlier statements.. but i've met gr8 ppl on here..... so on the whole i won't get much judgemental.just that i percieve them as people from a wholly different culture who've made their own mark, just as we have n aren't bad!! infact love em all 2 bitz!! :D
