or even bisexual? I mean, people say that certain people just are or are not. But what causes that. I don't think genes would, or that person's parents would, Wouldn't they?

It's genetic. Alot of heterosexual people have homosexual relatives and alot of homosexual people have heterosexual relatives....we're born this way as you were born straight..

It does not matter what "causes" gay people, any more than it matters what causes heterosexuals. Being gay is perfectly fine, and there's no reason to search for a cause. Some people feel that if it can be proven that being gay is genetic, then we'll get a little bit of sympathy and people won't be so harsh

People who want to hate will hate, though. If it were purely a choice, there w ould still be nothing wrong with being gay. If it were purely environmental, there would still be nothing wrong with being gay. There is no need to prevent or cure being gay.

I believe most people are born that way, but of course are not aware of it until they get a bit older. Even though many of us have a vague sense that we're somehow different, from a very young age.

I believe it's genetic disposition coupled with nurture and experiences.

I have a related question to this running at the moment actually.

Further to your question though, recessive genes (one particular eye colour for example, I think it's brown) appear all the time and they are not displayed by ones parents. NOT that I'm saying that homosexuality is a recessive gene.

Nobody knows what makes people gay/lesbian/straight/bisexual/whatever.

Why on earth would it matter?

People who are born into a religion are protected against discrimination due to their religious beliefs AND so are people who choose to switch to a different religion.

So, why do bigots use the thought that homosexuality is a choice to continue to deny us basic civil rights?

The jury's still out on that one, but my money's on a combination of recessive genes and personality.

I believe folk are born that way. I do not see anyone CHOOSING to live a lifestyle that is hated by soo many folk and can potentially get them killed so I truly believe they are born that way. I also believe they have EVERY RIGHT that heterosexuals have to be on this Earth and live their lives the way THEY want. AH MEN!!!

What causes any of our preferences? Why do I like black better than blue? It's just something that's unique to us and I think that it's really more or less random.

We could leave this to science? Make our own opinions until then.
