If you are unhappy about it, paint your own paintings.

In other words, people make paintings. People paint images contingent upon their own perceptions and interpretations. If you want to know why particular artists make or made certain choices, you can either ask the ones still living or else do some research into art history to try to find out why those dead artists made the choices they did.

Racism. Dark is often portrayed as being evil, light with good. Since our world is dominated by whites, then their view of what's good and bad, what's beautiful and what is not dominates. Blacks, whites, Asians, hispanics, we're all beautiful.
