I'm an atheist, and don't believe in him at all. But I was raised in the Baptist church and was taught how god loves everyone. If that is so, why do roses have thorns, why do people often find love when they are not free to give themselves to it? Why do our pets die twice as fast as we do?

I was watching "urban myths: beyond belief" and the narrator said "two losers were in a motel, high on drugs when one said to the other to order a pizza. The other loser picks up the phone and calls 911 by mistake and immeadiately hangs up... the cops check it out and find that the two losers are drug dealers".

Would there be task forces designed to find people that were trying to find a way to have an abortion, stop them with any means possible, and then force them to have the child by any means necessary? Would that mean that the people that try to have abortions would be taken away, drugged if necessary, held down if necessary, and forced to have a child? Would that task force be called something politically correct like: The Department of Medical and Human Services? Would it be funded by tax's, and if not how would it be paid for? If this were the case, and a person tried to perform an illegal abortion however they try; would a new law be enacted to make them pay for this "new" crime? In regards to the child: Does it go up for adoption? Would the person who birthed the child be held and forced to be the parent? What kind of psychological outcomes would this all have on the parent, and the child; to know that each was forced into that situation? How would the medical expenses be covered?

What do you think it means for people to have freedom of religion?
(My answer)
Freedom of religion is just that, you are free to be religious or not. You are free to choose to worship God, god, gods, self, cat, dog, mouse, donkey, etc. You don't have to go to church on Sunday, the government cannot tell you you have to be Baptist (for example) nor can laws force you to bow a knee to the perfered God.
What it does not entitle you to be is free from religion. I have just as much right as you do, I can assemble on the courthouse lawn in prayer. I can pray while in school, I can read the bible in the police station.

I was listening to a comedian talk about it and it got me thinking. People (mainly Christians and Republicans) say they want to "PROTECT" marriage.... from what? PLEASE dont tell me what it says in the Bible, as there are many Americans (incl. most gays) who don't believe in the Bible. So how does a gay or lesbian couple getting married hurt straight couples or families? Straight people do a good enough job making marriage less "sacred"... just look at the divorce rate. How are gay people going to make that worse?

We dont need to increase the population, plus straight ppl make love for fun not just kids.

Please don't waste time saying stuff like "if men can marry other men, animals (or children) might be next". Get real; gay people are the same species, they're all human, consenting adults.

SO with all that in mind PLEASE tell me what the actual problem is!

I would really like it if people would refrain from giving a 'thumbs down' just because they disagree with the response. I give a 'thumbs up' when I find an answer that has merit. I rarely give a 'thumbs down' - only when the person is being mean, nasty and beligerant without any merit to their argument.

Does anyone else agree? Can we agree to disagree?

I wasn't generalizing all Christians..but only those who don't stop saying that Islam is violent and then shift to love and peace in Christianity..I qouted from both OT and NT..and as I know that Christians believe un both and that they came from the same God..
I personally have some Christian friends and I don't like to harm their feelings..but I posted this as a reply to the other ones who don't stop bashing Muslims..Is it clear now?
