Would there be task forces designed to find people that were trying to find a way to have an abortion, stop them with any means possible, and then force them to have the child by any means necessary? Would that mean that the people that try to have abortions would be taken away, drugged if necessary, held down if necessary, and forced to have a child? Would that task force be called something politically correct like: The Department of Medical and Human Services? Would it be funded by tax's, and if not how would it be paid for? If this were the case, and a person tried to perform an illegal abortion however they try; would a new law be enacted to make them pay for this "new" crime? In regards to the child: Does it go up for adoption? Would the person who birthed the child be held and forced to be the parent? What kind of psychological outcomes would this all have on the parent, and the child; to know that each was forced into that situation? How would the medical expenses be covered?

Prior to Roe v. Wade, abortions were happening. People went overseas if they had money or found someone to perform it illegally who may or may not have the right training or facilities.

I have never read anything in the literature about the time period about anyone being stopped from going overseas (how in the world would they know?) or being stopped in a bust-style hunt for those attempting to receive an abortion. Medical facilities (I use that term loosely) were shut down occassionally but only after someone showed up in an emergency room after a botched and spilled the beans about where they got it done and the staff at the emergency room reported a particularly gruesome case (if the patient died for instance).

All of which make perfect sense, as emergency rooms are not in the business of enforcing laws and they shouldn't be. The INS and border patrol have got way more important things to worry about that women going to another country for medical procedures (even illegal ones).

I would imagine abortions would become like prostitution, enforced sporadically and won't stop those desperate to have one from getting one.

My 2 cents. I don't actually have a strong opinion on this topic which I think is unusual in this polarized society of ours.

I hate how people seem to ignore the fact that the baby is a person too, just as much as the mother is. I don't agree with abortion. I think it's murder. But in instances of rape, incest, or when carrying the baby is endangering the mother's health then I am okay with it.

I do not however agree with abortion being made illegal. Although abortion is a sad thing I think that people would only find their own twisted ways to do it so why not have a controlled system to prevent injuries to people who quite stupidly attempt to do it themselves.

And we should face facts I suppose. Rates would increase. More humans means higher taxes unfortunately since more resources would be used.

I just think people shouldn't be so quick to run away from their problems. If you make the decision to have unprotected sex and it results in a child being conceived then why not have the guts to accept the consequences. Even if you used protection and still got pregnant it's not the child's fault. Why exterminate an innocent baby just because of your mistake?

I do not think it would be right to force a woman to have a baby she did not want. Saying that if a woman has had ten aborations then maybe she is abusing the right, but forcing to have ten children, how would she take care of them. If women were forced into having children the foster care programs would sky rocket. Which would leave the child to possible bad envoirments, like abuse molestation, or murder. I also feel that woman would go back to doing what they did before, sticking hanger inside them to kill the baby, or even worse get one of those doctor who does it, and the woman ends up bleeding to death because he did it wrong or dying from infection. Also, the welfare reate would go up the mother may not be abl e to care of the baby. So that means taxes will go up. So I am very pro-choice
