Like bob is a good name for a builder, or Peter is a good name for a delivery boy. God's name seems to fit His job description pretty well, huh? His job being God and all. Can anyone think of a better name, a more suitable one for Him?

That the bible is the word of the living God.
That you may have eternal life?
That Jesus died for you?
That on the 3rd day he arose?

...following as soon as I set the guidelines. You answer will be summarily ignored if you postwithin the first 5 answers. No matter how good your answer is, you will not recieve best answer if you are in the first 5. Your answer will be summarily dismissed if you don't not read the question in it's entirety or if you fail to comprehend it as a result of trying to answer quickly.

Here is the background to the question: I DON'T CARE IF YOU SHOW RESPECT FOR MY RELIGIOUS PERSPECTIVES.

Here then is the question:

Why should I show any respect at all to your religious perspectives if I find them absurd?

Note that failure to show deference to your perspectives is not the same as failure to respect YOU as a person, or your rights to believe whatever you do. It simply means that I laugh at the absurdity of your position and mock it publicly. Why shouldn't I do that?

I'm generally good I obey my parents do my homework etc and I thought that I would never steal but the other day I just did and I dont know why. I feel like my life is out of my control and I have depression too but still I wouldnt steal. I felt proud of doing it like I did something special but thats not true because stealings bad and its against the law. The thing is I want to do it again and I think I would do it again. I just love the feeling of being in control and of being able to do what I want and the thrill of it. I'm so scared I'll be caught though and I dont want my parents to go through that. I dont know what to do though because my hands just grabbed the gloves it was insane. What do you guys think?

Ec 9:5 - "For the living are conscious that they will die, but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance, of them has been forgotten."

Ec9:10 - "All that your hand finds to do, do with your very power, for there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in She'ol {common grave} , the place to which you are going."
Ps:146:3,4 - "Do not put your trust in nobles, Nor in the son of earthling man, to whom no salvation belongs, His spirit goes out, he goes back to the ground, In that day his thoughts do perish."
John:11:11 - 14
"He said these things, and after this he said to them "Lazarus our friend has gone to rest, but I am journeying there to awaken him from sleep." Therefore the disciples said to him "Lord, if he has gone to rest, he will get well." Jesus, had spoken, however, about his death."

I've always wondered about this and my christian friends have a variety of views. And of course I love hearing other points of view, so I ask people these kinds of things all the time.

Christians, if you get to your heaven (and I sincerely wish all of you the best with that) and find out that at orientation or the welcome buffet or whatever, that Hitler, Dahmer, Stalin and other assorted 'not nice' people were already there? My understanding is that there is only one sin that cannot be forgiven, and that's blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. So if they were repentant just before death, technically they could go to heaven, correct? Or would god just say "tough, you were just too bad for me to forgive"? Do you accept that these people are there if they make it, or do you get a little upset?

A slightly related question as well - Do you have to be repentant for a certain period of time before you die to go to heaven, or is a last second/heartbeat repentance sufficient?
