It's only dangerous if I don't look out for on-coming traffic or and most relevantly.....if I drink too much before I go for a walk and trip and fall and then.....the on-coming traffic. That's the most dangerous part.
I guess I could take a walking stick with me...might prevent the trip and fall thing. Good Idea!

It totally depends on where you live. You wrote about taking a stick or gun! Does that mean your neighborhood is dangerous? Just remember if you carry a weapon, it also can be taken away from you, and used on YOU! Walking with a dog is a great ideal, other people unknown to the dog usually are unsure of the pet-so they do stay their distance. Either way, if you truly do have a real fears, I would do my jogging before night fall.

I live in an urban area and it is not safe here. Once in a while I'll hear what sounds like a gun being shot and I always pray that it's only a car backfiring. But I don't go out at night at all not even to throw out the garbage. I'll do that in the morning. I used to live next to a gang member and down the road from me was a drug house and this was in a HUD Public Housing Project.
There are derelicts that come on the apartments grounds and harass people and dig through the garbage. Most of these apartments are Section 8 and although they're nice, they're still not safe.

My neighbourhood is not considered dangerous by todays standards. However you might want to take that walk earlier in the day just on gp.

Not that dangerous. I live in Sydney Australia in the suburbs. I prefer not to walk around by myself at night though.

There is hardly anyone walking on the street after 8pm. I think it should be ok as long as you stay on the main streets where there are still traffics. I would rather not go out, and if I have to, even somewhere close, I would drive there.

Depends, do you live in suburbs, city, bad part of town or locked development. Bring pepper spray and a flashlight and a phone.

No ... I live in a small town (population of about 8,000) No one has ever been harmed, while walking in the evening. Small town living ... gotta love it. :)
