All religions basically teach peace. Love your neighbor, worship god, be good to others. That sort of crap.

Now, I find this very interesting as you can look back to a lot of the major conflicts of the world and see that that they were usually motivated by land, power, and religion. I put those things in that order because the land and power is usually what the war is REALLY about. The sad thing is that the leaders use religion as the major reason to have their followers fight, i.e. the Crusades, the Jewish/Muslim conflicts, Bosnian and Serbian conflicts, etc.

The leaders present the war as 'God's will' and they use words for their enemies such as savages, infidels, non-believers. These words dehumanize enemies and makes the bad things you do to them seem to be fine with God. 'You aren't killing a human.. you're killing an infidel!'

My question is this. If religion is supposed to be teaching peace, why does it condone the poor treatment of those who do not believe?

That modern day religions are based on believable facts?

Are they better than old religions like the ones the ancient Greeks and Romans believed in?

Did every person that ever lived before Jebus/Allah/Whatever go to a supposed bad place like hell?

Do the majority of people in the world go to hell since there is no one religion that dominates the entire world? Would the loving and understanding god that is described in most modern religions let something like this happen?

Was religion initially created to explain the things people could not explain before technologies came along?

Are the Thundercats cool?

My friend says that the world will always be filled with hate and crime and war and injustice. I don't think so. He said Martin Luther King's dream is never going to come true. I told him it's only a couple years away. Racism doesn't exist as much as it used to. Good always overcomes evil. In a few years, everyone will love each other and racism and injustice will be gone. Who's right?

As an example, in Exodus 21:20-21 it allows for slave masters to go unpunished after beating their slave if the slave lives for more than 24 hours after the beating. In Leviticus 25:45 it specifies the conditions for when it is permissible for children to be owned as property.

No where did Jesus say, the rules regarding slavery are eliminated.

We in the 21rst Century find such things deplorable. We don't believe in owning people as property, even thou in the Christian Mythology in the passages I have just referenced God makes this a legal institution to them.

So who is currently setting the standard of Morality. Can that person at any time say no its ok we are allowed to have slaves its God's word, and will modern Christianity follow?

Just wondering who sets the policies for when its ok to have a morality different from the Judeo-Christian God as it outlines in the mythology.

Exactly who do you think you are offending? Do you think that 'god' has needs and if it did, do you believe they can fail to be met?

Or that god gave you free will and then stated that if you exert that free will it will punish you???!

And then you call this God's love - how's that then?

So the Christians are saying that we aren't under the old law, because of Jesus. But without a belief in Jesus according to Rev 20:11-13 the individual is given a 2nd throne judgement, and then cast into a lake of fire. Of course this is why we see many who believe the Christian mythology telling non-Christians they are "going to hell".

So, is it really that we live under grace, or is it that we live under law.

It seems to me the person would be living under the new law of believe in Jesus or go to hell.

Am I misinformed?

Is it true that according to the Sharia court if a woman was raped she would need to produce 4 MALE witnesses if not she is will be considered as commiting adultery and be charged for it.
Wouldn't this just make woman not want to report rape? how is one suppose to come up with 4 witnesses? They make this impossible?
Please answer this intellectually if possible with verses from the quran.

Just wondering. I posted a similar question and got few answers so I figured I'd repost and change the heading. I ask because I also posted a question about a friend of mine whose boyfriend wanted to have a threesome with me. (I don't do threesomes nor do I like women.) She was very drunk, and agreed, but I am the reason it didn't happen. Some responses I got is that you are not responsible for what you do while drunk, or that she was agreeing to it to please her man. Does this only apply to women? I don't drink so I can't relate to being so drunk that I would have sex with a woman when I am not attracted to women, and I would be pissed if my man asked me to do it.
