My friend says that the world will always be filled with hate and crime and war and injustice. I don't think so. He said Martin Luther King's dream is never going to come true. I told him it's only a couple years away. Racism doesn't exist as much as it used to. Good always overcomes evil. In a few years, everyone will love each other and racism and injustice will be gone. Who's right?

I wouldn't want to say that your friend is right, but what he says is true. Yes, I will say that King's dream is definately a goal that we should all strive for, but at the same time there are always going to be those few individuals who won't take what he said to heart. I'm always experiencing some kind of bias no matter where I go, and I've come to the conclusion that it's going to be wherever I go. Until people start opening their eyes and realizing that the only thing separating us is, in fact, skin tone, racism is going to be around making people's lives more complicated than it should be.

Ur right but get off that cloud before you fall harder than you can handle. About the racism yeah its definitely 100 times better than b/4 but its never gonna go away u'll still see some in ur average world but its better, and about Good and Evil I agree but don't rely too heavily on it- its not that easy. Racism may go away completely but injustice hunny No! Actually its getting worse the more people know and the more intelligent they are the more ways they'll find to hurt someone (wether they mean to or not) Its just the circle of life sweety, Just PRAY! Works for me.

I think Racism has gone down but not by much. People still seem to believe that they are the better race. Racism will still exist in 1000 years as there are always selfish people in the world, and their are people like you who don't believe in racism who will treat everybody as equals. It's true Racism doesn't exist as it used to but I think your friend is rigth as the world will be filled with hate, crime, war and injustices purely based on Selfishness.

I don't know if MLK dream will Never come to fruition, but I don't htink it is a few years off. I think that there will always be some sort of racism in the world. I hope that one day it is overcome but it will not be in the next few years.

You seem to live a rather sheltered life if you do not see the racism that is around you, just look at some of the idiots that post racist comments on this site...

As a black person, I can tell you that while overt racism (i.e, Jim Crow laws) doesn't exist anymore, racism really is alive and well. All you have to do is read the racist postings from some people on this site to know that.

Good can and does overcome evil. As it relates to racism (and the other issues you and your friend have discussed) though, the question is, to what extent? That's alot of evil to overcome. All we can do is hope.

You must live in the city. My black friends are afraid to come to my house because of the county I live in is known for it's racism.

Also, this war is going to make the already existant racism against middle easterners worse. Before it's over with, people who've never had a racist thought in their life will be thinking about how much they hate these kinds of people, because of the race and religion of the people who are terrorizing the world.

You my friend live in a bubble. We have a long ways to go. There are places where the people of certain communities haven't made any progress whatsoever.

It's not almost gone. Remember, the civil rights era was only back in the 1960's, which isn't that long ago. As long as there are different races of people, there will always be racism. I'd love to be as optimistic as you are, but as a person of color I still see it. It's not blatant, as in lynchings for example, but it's in other smaller ways, such as institutionalized racism where minorities receive stiffer jail sentences.

I love your hope but it won't happen ever! Caucasian people are bread to believe that they are suppose to be in charge! Even if you wipe all other races off the earth It still would be racism of Poor Caucasians, Mid-Poor Caucasians & Rich Caucasion's. Caucasion people are born with RACISM INSTINC'S. They always talk about African American's being locked up. But for every Crime African American's commit, I can show you a Caucasion that has commited that same crime. Caucasion's just are not locked up for thier crime's and African American's are locked up and convicted for the same crimes! As soon as Hispanic Peolpe figure out what African American's are fighting for, they will slack off too. It's just a matter of time! I love you hope though!

I think there is still racism. The only reason you don't see it much now (at least from whites) is that it's practically illegal. If you are a racist, you can't get far in your job. I agree that it's great that racial violence is illegal, but it shouldn't hurt you in society to say that you don't like a certain race. I don't think this is how MLK wanted it to be. He never wanted people to be forced to like him, just for blacks to have equal rights. I think many people resent blacks for this reason alone. You can't force people to like other people, and that's what the government has done. It has kept the violence down, but there is still racism in peoples' hearts. If the government really wanted people to like everyone, they could force blacks and whites to marry someone of the other race.

True, racism does not exist as much as it used to but it it still a problem in some of the uncivilized parts of the world. Tribal warfare in Africa and the middle east is a big problem of racism.
