In philosophical conversations with religious people, I've heard several say that they know their beleifs are true through faith. But I see knowledge and faith as incompatible concepts. Isn't faith only neccessary when you cannot obtain knowledge and must predict and make sense of events? And if I know something has happened already, I don't need faith, do I? Could someone enlighten me on the whole knowledge through faith thing. I'm not trying to make fun of anyone's beliefs. I just want to understand.

I really don't mean to sound rude, but lately we have had several girls at school say they are practicing Wicca. It's a group of 6 or 7 girls. Every last one of them are extremely overweight, and very homely looking. A friend from another school said the Witches at his school looked the same way. I'm very curious what draws these types of girls to wicca?

I'm in my mid 20's and this has gone on for years now. Before I go to bed or during the middle of the night, I see an orange or golden glow shine in the room. No more than a couple days later, someone I know or that I am associated with dies. I have been raised as a Christian and do believe in God, but do not attend church regularly. I've heard of this going on in my family, but not too often. Its hard to talk with anyone about because I either scare people when I tell them or they think its all in my mind. I'm totally competent, a grad student studying psychology, but usually when they talk about a person "seeing things" they are totally incompetent and diagnosised with some sort of psychotic illness. Hopefully someone more religious can help me out!

My guy friend and I were engaged in a debate, and we'd somehow started on the subject of homosexuality. We were talking, and he believes that just because one member of a sex, has sex with another member of the same sex, that does not make the person homosexual. An analogy used was like when some women kiss other women, it does not necessarily mean they are lesbians. While I agree with the fact that just because some young, partying college girls tounge kiss one another all in the name of fun or experimentation, that does not make them lesbian; I am not sure if it would be correct to apply the same logic to two members of the same sex having intercourse with one another. Although as I write this, it is kind of making sense to me...because after all some people are just very free sexually, and like to experiment, and I know that homosexuality is not just about sex. What's your stance on this? Do you agree with his argument? I guess it all would depend on the individual...

How can Islam justify itself as a peaceful religion? How can it show that it is does not spread Islam with violence?
When Westerners or non-Muslims destroy a building killing Muslims, then Muslims all over the world get outraged. However, when radical Muslims destroy a building killing Muslims and non-Muslims, there is not one protest or word against it -only exception: if CNN or Foxnews decides to air a member of the Islamic community. On-air in front of millions of people OF COURSE they wont admit that Islam isn't peaceful. Were there any protests from the Islamic community condemning the occurance of 19 radical Muslims destroying 2 buildings killing almost 3000 non-Muslims AS WELL as Muslims?
If Muslims are apparently allowed to kill infidels, then they are assumingly allowed to lie to them also, no? Are the allowed to lie to non-Muslim people and governments by claiming that Islam is a peaceful religion?

At the bottom of a question - once you have posted it - its says ''Edit question" - this is a lie as all you seem to be able to do is add or delete. Edit means change aswell. You can edit an answer but not a question - why ?

They say suspension instead of termination?

Guidelines instead of Rules ?

I also echo what other people have said about why do they think that choosing which are best voters over best answers is more important than making sure the infrastructure of this site works properly i.e. editing out swear words etc.,

i.e. you can't put **** but you can put - a r s e - etc., and other things like making sure you can back track on your answers easily by having a proper archiving system - they are so hung up on this chat versus q/a business - wheres the common sense in that !

As many other people have pointed out - and I agree - what is the point of violating and suspending some people while others get away with murder.

The only thing right is the introduction of awards
