they believe in some myth that died for them 2000 years ago when they didnt even exist 2000 years ago so it's not possible for anyone to die for them when they didnt even exist when this myth "jesus" (theres no god or jesus or any other garbage like that) supposably died for them, how dumb can they be?

I have been thinking about getting either one or two tattoos, (angel and logo of a customs shop i plan on opening) but everyone seems to think that it would be extremely wrong, I also worry about getting them because i plan on entering the medical field and don't know how many people would trust a doctor with tattoos.

(I don't paln on getting them where they would be very visible i.e. back and shoulders.)

Look at TV. All the relationships are either "hot guy and hot girl", or if there is an overweight person involved, it is funny!
Fat love is funny?
Wow. Or movies! Notice that we do not hate Mary Kate Olsen is an idiot for her bulimic tendencies! And, if we as Americans had not become obsessed with looks, it would not have happened! Where is the "war on anorexia"? Why do we hate fat people so much?
Or intelligence! We hate smart people, too! Whenever one begins to explain something, they are told to "stop acting like a know it all!"
I always thought it was the fault of corporations, but if you have a better response, please, give it to me!

I’m curious.

There are many things in the bible that have been decided were appropriate at the time but not now (i.e. slavery, beating servants and children and eye for an eye – not to mention hair length for women, etc.) based on the culture or issues at the time.
(I understand the eye for an eye was surpassed by turning the cheek, but slavery is now accepted as WRONG even though Jesus still accepted it.)

The question is, as we progress as a species and civilizations realize the inhumanity of certain things, at what point is the bible literally what god wants vs. a base for us to grow upon which then makes it open to interpretation? And who gets to decide? (aside from Catholics who have the Pope).

In other words, are all the Christians and Muslims out there without slaves solely because it is illegal or because it is wrong? If it is because it is wrong, who gets to say what else has been said to be ok or wrong but is now wrong or ok (respectively)? And at some point, do we then grow beyond the literal and accept it as a message of what is intended?

I don’t mean to offend, and feel free to leave the typical “believe and be saved” or “the bible is bogus”, but this is a question I have been curious about for a long time and would appreciate honest answers if there are any.

Pope Benedict XVI rebuked his fellow Germans and other Western societies this Sunday, saying they often shut their ears to the Christian message. "Put simply, we are no longer able to hear God — there are too many different frequencies filling our ears."

Is the Pope just saying his version of organised religion (Christianity) is the right one, and all of the other religions (frequencies) have got it wrong?

Yet why would Saul believe the demon coming out of the Earth was Samuel? Why did the come out of the Earth and not from Heaven?
