I know there are alot of religions that are God based. Here then, is a question I would like you to consider ( all faiths welcome):

What would you do if there was a way to physically prove the existence of your God/ Gods? What about the reverse- if there was a way to physically prove He/They don't exist? How would it affect you, and do you know this without a shadow of a doubt?

My parents were raised Catholic but I never had any religious instruction. When I got to school (age 4), and I heard all these grown ups talking here and there about heaven, hell, angels, I seriously thought they were joking well into my teens!

I thought it was like Santa Claus, you know, a big cultural myth, and we all just agree on perpetuating it. The more I heard, the more ridiculous it seemed. Who wants to be resurrected? Isn't it selfish to only want to act according to the bible to receive something (eternal life) as recompense?

Kind of scary actually......I don't mean to offend believers, I'd rather hear from atheists or agnostics. Thanks.

My 1st language isn't English, so I'd like some help with the verb believe. If you say you belive in something, the you have faith in it's existence right? So, I belive in God means you have faith in the existence of God. But if you say I belive God, then it means you trust God, you think God won't abandon you, right?

If you're talking with someone, you usually don't say I believe in you, right? . You say I belive you, which means I think what you say is true. But I belive you can also mean you belive that person will succeed, oK? For example , if you tell your son you believe him, then it may mean you belive he'll be a good man, a good father, etc.

Believe in may also mean you think something works. For example, I believe in technology may mean you believe technology will solve your problems.

Am I correct?

Thank you very much

I work at a job that provides great pay AND benefits (much better then I did as a teacher).

I feel as if I am going mad (well "mad" might be a a bit overstating it,)

however.

I like working with people that involve caring for others (that's why I chose teaching, but I couldn't pay my bills) and in turn ALSO are supportive of the people they work with.

This is not the scenario of this position.

As a secondary part to this question: IF you did say yes to "have any of you felt "displaced" at a job?," answer this queation:

"What did you do to resolve it?"

After all, when you look closely at the bible - it's very ambiguous and doesn't really point out anything about homosexuality being a sin.

It says, "You shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination." But apparently abomination, in Hebrew, literally translates to "unclean" - and doesn't at all refer to sexual practices. Note as well: "lying with" does not = sex.

And then again, it says nothing about lesbianism *winks* - and outlaws "wearing glasses" and "having acne" as well as "a male having a haircut" in the same page. So, why don't we ban these things, too?

Hmmm...

I guess God only knows.

And we're not a theocracy anyway... so what _is_ the legal reason for the bans?

Sowing hate? Closeted homosexuality and consequent self-fear? A fear of not being able to **** certain women - and thus forcing them out of marrying other women? Chauvinism itself?

If anyone knows a real legal issue here, please, please, share it with me.

I'm just burning to know.
