There are many many different versions of the Bible, you could get lost trying to find the right one. The thing is, to get one YOU are comfortable with. My dad and I are comfortable with the old standard King James Version, but, my daughter didn't understand it at all, so I got her a New Revised King James Version. It is all the same Bible, just written in different ways so anyone can understand it. They all boil down to mean the same thing. Just take your time and don't rush or get anxious when you see all the different versions. Remember, they are all the same.

No you shouldnt the thing you should do is try and get a better understanding of the Bible and what it teaches and the best way to do that is pick a TRANSLATION of the Bible that you can read and understand rather than a version you will understand it better and it is more accurate hope this dispells some confussion if you like I can suggest some for you just ask Gorbalizer

The many versions come about, because they are translated from whatever language they origionated in. Since languages cannot translate over perfectly, there become diffrent wordings, hence the diffrent versions.

There are various types of Bibles, but all include the Word of the Lord. Some are just written in a form that is easier to read and understand.

Yes, you should do your own translation of both Old and New Testaments. They were not originally written in English though - is that a problem?

maybey a eubonics bible? as long as it teaches the Word of God and Christ as the Saviour, who could complain.......except my right wing radical buddies in sunday school, that is.

p.s. please dont think i am being as racist as this sounds. this is just my sarcasm because a friend and i wrote a comedy skit for this very thing and our parish had a fit....btw, buddy is african descent and it was his idea...i just have a talent for words and pizzing people off. ;)
