How do those who base so much of their lives on the Bible deal with the fact that it was written by people thousands of years ago who not only could not conceive of what society would be like today, they couldn't even master such simplicities as indoor plumbing that we take for granted today. Think about that? I know there will be the usual replies stating "its the word of God" and "it has stood the test of time", but the reality is, its a bunch of
stories put forth based on principals that surely stand the test of time but are not exactly difficult to come by. I mean, "do onto others as you wish them to do to you"...well yeah, common ense. "Thou shall not kill"...uh huh, don't think I need the Bible to know this one. What about the Bible makes you think its so pecial? Please don't tell me its because people have always held it as the word of God...it was written in a time when even the simplest of magic tricks were thought to have been miracles.

Is normal good? Bad? Does normal even exist when it comes to personalities. I don't think that it does. I think that nobody is normal, and yet maybe everyone is... no too normal. Everyone is different, so could there be a normal when it comes to people's personalities?

The historian De Lacy O'Leary wrote in Islam at Crossroads: "History makes it clear, that the legend of fanatical Muslims, sweeping through the world and forcing Islam at the point of sword upon conquered races is one of the most fantastically absurd myths that historians have ever repeated."

Muslims ruled Spain for roughly 800 years. During this time, the non-Muslims there were alive and flourishing. Additionally, Christian and Jewish minorities have flourished in the Muslim lands of the Middle East for centuries, often arriving to escape the pogroms in Europe. Countries such as Egypt, Morocco, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and Jordan all have significant Christian and/or Jewish populations. This is not surprising to a Muslim, for his faith prohibits him from forcing others to see his point of view, and in fact guarantees them protection. The Qur’an says: “Let there be no compulsion in religion” [Al-Qur’an 2:256]

According to Chapter 5 of Rick Warren's "The Purpose Driven Life" God tests people to find out what is really in our hearts just as he tested Hezekiah by withdrawing from him. If God is omniscient why does he need to test us to learn what is in our hearts?

Breath of Life + Dust of the ground = Living soul

Genesis 2:7
And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

So let's have blue represent the breath and red represent the dust. Mix them together and you'll get purple and let's have that represent the soul. Red is part of the formula to make purple. Taking the soul away from the body would be like trying to take purple out of red. Isn't that right?

I was running with a friend of mine this morning and we went off on a philosophical debate about reality. The state of reality. What is real? It started off as a discussion about meeting people in cyberspace, how can you have a relationship (friendship or romantic) with someone - when you communicate with them, talk to them, interact with them and yes they obviously exist but you aren’t physically there with them, so how is that a relationship based on reality?
That was his argument. No body-No reality-No relationship.
Then we continued the back half of 3 miles- panting and we got into the discussion of Christianity- (Sam is catholic and I am not). I applied his logic.
How can something that is not proven (evolution as well, I am afraid) be grounds for basing a relationship? Your personal relationship with God.
Now don’t misconstrue what I am saying I am not debasing your relationship with God, at all.
What I am asking is what proof do you need, what state of reality do you need to base your relationships?

And don’t say the bible, that’s too easy! Think beyond that.

Jesus said to Peter in front of John and the other disciples -each of who died horrible deaths rather than deny Jesus-foxes book lof martyrs Matthew 16th chaper 16&17th verses " I am the Messiah the Son of the Living God"

i was taught to pick and chose what i wanted to believe-not by a pedophile 'married' to a 9 year old child though. so i rejected Jesus and the bible =then i saw movies like the Passion of Christ-history and Jesus said he would go on the cross for the joy set before him proves he was crucified to fulfill what Moses and Isaiah said the Messiah would have to do-die as our sacrifice for sins =innocent for our guilt.

Moses-God hath given the blood sacrifice to make an atonement for our sins

Isaiah 52vs13-53vs12 he will be exaulted but first marred more than any man, and lay down his life to make an atonement for our sins.

Many liers say they believe Jesus or that he was good or just a prophet-but reject what he says---I am the Son of God-i believed

They ask people if they believe in God. They know full well that we either believe in one God, many Gods, or nothing at all. Why do they care if we believe or not? If we dont, will they try to convert us? Am I the only one who's bothered by this? Please tell me what the big deal is. I dont wish to start a conflict, I just want some answers.
