Mythical Bird?
You were close, spelling these mythical names can be a myth! It is spelled Oozlum.

Oozlum Bird
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"The Oozlum bird is a particularly rare mythical creature, supposedly able to carry out many fantastic things, including being able to fly backwards and flying in ever-decreasing circles until it manages to fly up itself, disappearing completely, adding to its rarity."

From the Oxfordshire Limited Edition

"It’s a curious bird, the Oozlum,

And a bird that’s mighty wise,

For it always flies tail-first to

Keep the dust out of its eyes!"

Tony Augarde is the author of The Oxford Guide to Word Games, The Oxford A to Z of Word Games and Oxford Word Challenge.

Keep asking.
