While watching episode 2 of Life on Mars, at the beginning of the episode they chase a suspect out of a pool and tackle him. One of the inpectors pulls off the suspects shoe and says "Stand back, he's got a veruca!" (or something along those lines.) and the other 2 inspectors jump back.
So what's a veruca?

Does the older something gets the more true it gets? Does this mean that when the bible was first written it was more false and a poor creditable resource for proving God whereas now it is not?

I don't understand where the anger is coming from. If someone doesn't want to be gay anymore, that is their choice, isn't it? Just like the gay people demand respect for their choices. I don't understand why they don't want anyone to change to being straight.

And what is this rant I keep hearing "there is no scientific evidence to prove that a person can stop being gay". Who needs scientific evidence? Isn't the opinion of the gay person who stops being gay only opinion that matters?

I love the works of Calvin, Jonathan Edwards, C.H. Spurgeon etc., yet I have a really hard time coming to grips with the Calvinist teaching that all non-Christians will burn in hell. I find myself leaning to the approach of C.S. Lewis who posited that all in hell will be given a second chance. Am I still a Calvinist?

I am talking about the Jews and Muslims, of course.

And before I get a bunch of angry christians shouting that the Jews only want to live in peace, maybe they should go to Lebanon and see what's left of the country's infrastructure and talk to the people there who just lost everything during an undeclared war on a political party by the IDF...

The Jews are no more peaceful than the Muslims... unless you think that the mass killing of innocent civilians in retribution for scattered rocket attacks is peaceful... than yes, they are more peaceful than the muslims.

It is like no others - very large, black cast iron with two knobbs on each side for easy hanging; they are not like the ones you would feed a chain through, the pot would just set on the chain and hang. You can see where at one time there were three legs on the bottom. I am interested in the history of these picticular cauldrons. If you might know anything about them or a web address I may go to learn more about this kind please let me know. Thanks

O father god
Strict conservative corporal punisher that you are
Hear my pleadings from this poor miserable sinner
(Congregation: "Poor Miserable Sinner")
O father god
grant us great storehouses of money, stocks and bonds
and give us more than our neighbors
cuz this is the capitalist republican way.
O father god
Let us have the abortions we want
without interference from strict fundamentalist lunatics
We ask this in the name of the idiot holy ghost
Amen

I seem to remember seeing a documentary that both gay rights and abortion weren't really political issues on which either party has an opinion until the early 1980's, when Jerry Falwell stood up to condemn the homosexual lifestyle as against God. Any thoughts? Can anyone confirm this?

The problem is I am EXTREMELY lazy! My parents havn't helped at all either. They've babied me since day1. I always got what I wanted and I would ask for things for school at the last minute like projects and bake sale stuff and such and it was mom to the rescue. I sleep in until the late hours of the morning. I was on the honor roll all year with an 87 gpa. My mom says that adds up to about a 3.8 gpa for college. But because I am extremely lazy I do not know the meaning of work. Yes I do have a job at a grocery store but I do not work very hard there and get almost no hours. I have always made it through life with just the bare minimum. But my main problem is sleep. I try to go to bed around 10ish and then I TRY to wakeup at 6 but I just go back to sleep and miss everything. I sleep through all my alarms. I need some ideas on how to wake up early and get through the day. Once I'm awake I always fall back to sleep and miss a lot of things. I need to learn how to wake up and stay awake.

Sadly, I've found that most of the black guys I've hung around with have no sense of purpose or direction in their lives, and knowing what one plans to do with one's life is one of the main things I look for in a man. Also, I hate to be stereotypical, but I find most of the black men I've been around to be rather...loud. And vulgar. And obnoxious.
I know that's the exception and not the rule, but I'm kind of running out of hope here. Where have all the good black men gone?

China is a bad place I think that they should be culled
How dare they kill all those innocent dogs what gives those savages the right ....How evil
if i were walking down the street and they tried to take my dog away from me and clobber my baby(dog)to death .I would break their ugly ignorant necks and fight to the death.
PS> only the dog murders should be exterminated and anyone evil enough to agree with them...........people are the ones who spreaded the diseases in the first place!

O jesus, maker of rules we do not live by
Hear our prayer (congregation: "Hear our Prayer")
O jesus, crazy maniac of the universe
Hear our prayer (congregation: "Hear our Prayer")
O let us forget all your teachings
And make up our own minds about right and wrong
So that we may fulfill our purpose here on earth
And look to a better tomorrow
Amen

Have you ever wondered if Moses went up to Mt. Sainai (sp?), got drunk, and decided to carve these 10 made up rules on stone and say that God told him to do so? This is not a question that is meant to offend or incite any hate. I was just wondering if anyone else ever thought of this. And don't go defending by quoting the Bible because I can say the same thing about the Bible. If we saw someone today that said they were talking to God, we would have them institutionalized. Back then, they were pious and they wrote all of the "messages from God" down and made the Bible.
