Hezbollah kidnapped the Israeli soldiers.
Hezbollah deliberately placed their weapons in civilian's homes.
Hezbollah deliberately hides behind women and children and civilians.
Hezbollah deliberately hides behind their own civilians as they fire their weapons, knowing full well that there will be casualties.
They deliberately cause the casualties, so that they can pretend they are innocent bystanders instead of the vicious scheming instigators that they are.
But what can you say about fanatics who deliberately send their own children out as suicide bombers.
Israel is just defending itself. Israel was attacked. Israel is a tiny democracy fighting for its life,
It's a tiny democracy in a sea of unfriendly fanatics who have deified the concept of genocide.
Hezbollah is backed by Syria and Iran.
Hezbollah is determined to wipe out Israel.
What do you expect Israel to do? lie down and die? It is not their right and responsibility to defend themselves? Can't you see who is the enemy? Can't you see where the evil is? How can people be so blind?
Israel doesn't send out its babies strapped down with bombs to blow up innocent people.
Israel doesn't hide behind human bunkers.
Hezbollah is evil. Their aim is the extermination of Israel. Everything they are doing is with the deliberate intent of genocide.
Israelis didn't ask for this war. They don't want this war. But they are in the hotbed of a hornet's nest, and the only chance they have of peace...the only chance they have of survival... is through war.
And...for those of you who don't know the history of your own Christianity--the book that the Jews have--the one that Christians have because Jesus was a Jew--IS the one that says Thou shalt not kill.
The old testament also says "An eye for an eye." And my friend, Hezbollah extremists are out for more than eyes. They don't just hate Jews. They hate everyone who is not of their party. If you are Christian, they hate you too.

you are not really asking a questions are you. The reason why the Jews are fighting in Lebanon if memory serves correctly is because they had soldiers captured and held hostage. Or is that a lie. Or did the Jews have nothing else better to do than say well we are bored today why not start bombing somebody. I don't think so. When is people going to realize that Israel is going to be a nation with recognized borders

It is an old western strategy - called divide et imperi - divide and rule. If you make sure everybody in the country is too busy hating other inhabitants then nobody will have time to question what the government is doing.
And the first groupto do so - will be declared guilty of everything that goes wrong in the country - so by the fact that the moslims get the blame of everything in the west - it is likely that they still understand that the government is ruining the country and using the people.

There are two reasons...
1. There are rich Jewish people who control many politicians in the American government. Some of them do this through legal lobbying, others do it with under the table payoffs. I'm sure there's also more than a little blackmail going on, seeing as how they control most of the media also. And I'm not saying this to sound like Mel Gibson. I've got no problem with Jewish people using the tools they've been given. But them's the facts.
2. The Christian Right controls the rest of the government. And they use the same tactics, although I think there's more blackmail going on than money changing hands. Christians like to boycott candidates, companies, etc. And in this way, they influence our politics. And, as spamandham pointed out, they do in fact, believe the Jews are God's chosen people.
This is why religion is so appalling to us atheists. We sit and stare in wide-eyed wonder how you religious people can allow these lying manipulators to send your sons and daughters to war over silly fairy tales.
And it's also why we're here trying to rescue your minds from them...

Just because the US supports Israel does not mean they support Jews specifically (besides the fact that there are very few Jewish extermists). An Israelite is NOT the same thing as a Jewish person. "At the end of 2003, of Israel's 6.7 million people, 76.7% were Jewish (by religion), 15.8% were Muslim, 2.1% were Christian, 1.6% were Druze and the remaining 3.7% (mainly Former Soviet Union immigrants) were not classified by religion. As of 1999, 5% of Israeli Jews defined themselves as Haredim ("ultra-orthodox"); an additional 12% as "religious"; 35% as "traditionalists" (not strictly adhering to Jewish law or halakha); 43% as "secular"; and 5% as "anti-religious." Among all Israeli Jews, 65% believe in God and 85% participate in a Passover seder."
I'm sure these numbers have changed slightly since then, but 43% of Jews in Israel were, in 1999, secular!

Oh, so here we are blaiming poor Hezbollah for kidnapping, oh, poor them! And to think, all they had to do was return the kidnapped soldiers, and no one would have gotten hurt. Yes, Israel warned them, but they simply don't care about the lives of the Lebanese, the same Lebanese who protect and hide them. Lebanon could have easily convinced Hezbollah to return the soldiers, but they care as much about their own people as Hezbollah does. I think you're looking in the wrong direction for a monster. The terrorists want us all dead, Americans, Jews, and basically anyone who isn't part of fanatical islam. You think we should just let them come over here, and maybe they won't wipe us out? Get real. Israel has a right to protect herself from these self-proclaimed genocidal maniacs.

The US's support of Israel has very little to do with religion. They are a political ally in the region. The region is very important to us strategically. We support our ally to further our own goals in the region, politically and strategically.
Should Israel hold back when they are attacked? Should they only respond to attacks with limited force which is carefully measured out to be no more than that which was applied against them? Of course that would be ridiculous and nobody limits their defensive retaliations in that way. Hezbollah attacked Israel. Israel responded with the resources at its disposal. Did Hezbollah get the crap beat out of it? Yes. Is that Israel's fault? No, it's Hezbollah's fault for picking on somebody vastly stronger than them.

It's nice to ride Lebanon's band wagon, but neither side is innocent. As you should know, this "war" has been going on for hundreds of years. It will never end so get over it.

Henry Kissinger answered this question perfectly in the 1970s
The only difference between their (The Soviets) dictators and our dictators is - these are our dictators.
The US has chosen sides with Israel. That's 100 percent of the reason.
