Many ancient civilizations worshipped the sun as their main god. I would honestly say that this is the closest tangible thing to a god that we have. It may not have created us, but gave us the means to develop and survive. Its energy provides 99% of the total energy used by life on our planet. Without it, there would be nothing. So while modern fundies pray to some make-believe deity, at least these people were praying to something which exists in REALITY.

If someone has faith in their god as being an all powerful all knowing ominipitent being. Why would that person feel the need to defend him/her?? Can that all powerful god not speak for nor defend him/her self?? I've actuall read answers scolding people for mocking God. Yet thousands of people a day mock God and nothing happens to them.

this is there logic that they prayed 100 times and 99 times out of 100 nothing happened and they give some excuse that "god" has a plan or whatever garbage they wanna say but when 1 time out of 100 happened just on coincidence, they think that it actually works and it was a "miracle" even though it was just 1/100 and they forgot about the 99 other times that nothing at all happened. What idiots. How dumb can they be?

There stance is that I should help her until she gets the correct answers. My stance is that she should do the work on her own because if you don;t make mistakes you will really never learn. If she has a question about how something should be worked out, I will explain it to her so she can go and try the problem again. I am not concerned about her grades, she is very smart and logical. what is your opinion, should I help her get the right answers everytime, or let her make mistakes and learn from those mistakes?

If everything evolved from one single cell, where did that first cell come from? Don't give me any of that big bang crap, that sounds like an answer a child would make after being found with a box of cookies she shouldn't have. "Where did you get those cookies?" "There was this big bang, mommy!"

There's nothing that could've caused the big bang if there was nothing.

One last thing, why isn't there more interspecies (is there even any?)? Why isn't there something halfway between human and monkey dug up?

My sister-in-law (my husband's sister) is a lesbian and my husband and I are very close to his sister and her life partner. They have been together for a really long time and we love them both a whole lot. They asked us to something for them that we've never heard of before so we wanted to find out if this is something common or if anyone has heard of it before.

The two of them would like to have a child that they can raise together. Rather then adopting, they'd like to have a child naturally. So, they came up to my husband and asked that he be the one to make the male's contribution to a child. The reason is that my sister-in-law and her life partner want his stuff is so that they can say the child truly shares both mother's DNA (since my husband and his sister share DNA).
Additionally, they do not want to a fertility clinic to get this done. They would like my husband to be intimate with the other woman (not his sister...yuk).

Anyone heard of this before?

I am not Jewish and have never made Kosher food before. Will Jewish people even feel comfortable eating in my home? What are the Kosher rules for eating out-can they eat food that wasn't prepared with dual sinks/stoves/etc?

One time i was helping some people to clean a building, most of the lights were off, and i was going around all of the rooms to dump all of the trash-cans. Then at one room (which didn't have a window) I stopped and opened the door, immeidiatly i saw this black figure in the back of the room swoop straight torwards me, i freaked out and slammed the door right when whatever it was was in front of me. I left the place as soon as possible. This was a couple of years ago. It really shook me up and now i am afraid to go into any dark place unless i have a light or a friend with me. Was i freaking out over nothing, or was it really some sort of scary spirit/ghost?
