Not really. She died what we call Intestate. When someone dies intestate, his/her assets are shared according to the law to the spouse, children and next of kins.

Only if she does not have any lrelative that her assets go to the government coffer.

The answer is for UK citizens who are assumed to be UK domiciled.

Usually if a person who dies without a will or leaves one that is defective then their property goes to the legal heirs of the intestate - ie Next of Kin or children.

If a person dies intestate (without a will), then their heirs will inherit the property. If there are no heirs, the property will pass to the state.

Nope will automaticly go to the next of kin,
ie husband, children, brothers/sisters etc

Depends where you live.

I believe (but could easily be wrong) that if you have property in say Tenerif and leave no will, it goes to the state.
