Personally, I think it comes from a sense of self-worth. They know that they wouldn't want someone else doing certain things to themself and so they have the respect to spare others that same feeling. Also, some actions come equipped with consequences. Murdering, Stealing, etc. are all bound to get you caught and thrown in jail or worse.

Isn't this enough reason for where non-theists morals and respect for other people's right to live unmolested comes from?

According to some christians all the suffering in the world is simply god testing his children. But if god is as they say all knowing why would he need to test his children and if he is all loving why would he want to? Or perhaps he just isn't real.

M-theory ( which unifies the 5 versions of string theory) seems to explain existence pretty well without a need or room for any deities.

like I do things that other people might consider immature or stupid, but like the things that I do are not like destructive or anything like that because I know not to do that. Like if you ever watched viva la bam you see how he does things that damage the house, waste food, or hurt his family, e.t.c.? I would never ever do anything like that, and in fact I can't even believe that he would even do such things. I know better to do anything like that and I know it is just wrong. I just do other things, like annoy people if I know they can't/won't do anything, or like put my hand in front of a coupon machine to see what will happen if a coupon tries to come out while my hand is there, things that will not hurt anyone/anything. But I just don't even know why I do things like that. I will admit that I have had a social problem throughout my life. I went throughout my entire school years relatively silent and am pretty much the same way now that I am in college. But does this mean anything?

An obvious answer, posing a threat to what was considered divine truth. It did have reason behind it. The sun from Earth looks small, and appears to circle us every day. Now he could come up with all the evidence he wanted but a true man of faith holds firmly that the word of God is truth, plus it was seemingly obviously contrary to popular knowledge, so he went to jail. Now nearly 500 years later anyone who agrees with the church from that time is obviously wrong no matter what looks true and is either ill informed or a stubbornly ignorant person. Religion was obviously a knowledge suppressor at this point and bigotted peoples views so they couldn't even consider hard evidence. Does this sound similar to a current arguemeant about creation and the origin of species (hint)? Doesn't it seem just a matter of time until another outdated theory is shot down no matter how much false reason it has? If you disagree still then I just ask you to keep an open mind, I don't want to convert you.

I have read in historical texts about a certain punishment being used on males who have raped. Basically, his erect penis was covered with honey or cheese or something, and his penis was then inserted into a cage of hungry rats. The texts state that the rats ate off the male's penis.
According to the texts, this happened during the Second World War in Russia, and was done by Russian women on captured German soldiers who were caught raping Russian women and girls.
Is this possible? I don't know anything about rats, but would they actually do this? I have no idea how long it would take but I must assume it would be a slow process.
It is very horrible, but then so is rape.

When you have practically everything, you appreciate nothing. When you have practically nothing, you appreciate everything. I thought a lot about this because of my current financial situation. I used to make good money until I got fired from my job and had to take a lower paying one just to make a living. I had to move into a smaller place and watch my spending very carefully. But I have learned to appreciate what I have now, just a roof over my head, clothes, sufficient food to eat, my current job, and most importantly, my relationship with God. Is this the reason that many people from poor countries actually have a more optimistic outlook overall than those of us in developed, wealthy countries? Over time, I have learned to appreciate living a humble, simple life FAR MORE than living large and expensively. It is true, money alone cannot buy you hapiness.

If you agree, great! If you disagree, could you tell me where you get your inspiration as a Christian to judge and condemn others?

The only thing Jesus taught was love, tolerance and compasion for one another. He taught us to love our neighbor the way he loved us. Where you do draw your inspiration for judging other's actions and condemning them for their sins?

If you disagree please answer this also - are you without sin?

If you aren't without sin, how can you judge others?

I for one fully agree. Nothing, but nothing has held humanity back from it's full potential as religion.
Look at the scientists that the church (predominantly christian but all religions are equally guilty) has either jailed, denounced or excommunicated. Men like Gallileo, Tycho Brahe, Magellan... the list goes on.
After all, one of the first lessons taught in the bible is the one about Adam, Eve and the tree of KNOWLEDGE. They could eat from any tree but that one. What's that tell you? That knowledge is bad in any form and that blind faith is all a person needs.
Personally I hope for the day when religion is nothing more than an embarrasing footnote in the history of mankind.
When people finally reject mythology, they move ahead at tremendous speed. Those that are mired in the mess that is religion however, either move slower than continental drift, or simply go backwards.

Hmmm.....
Maybe the real question is, "What group here on earth sutvive, and why".

If "I" had to guess, it would be the ones who live each day looking for knowledge due to the fact-------------
What if we had to start over tomorrow.
No Technology.
No Government.
No Money.
People that understood the true power of Creativity and Contribution.
What would you have to offer, if we had to start over.
What do you know.
Well, please, think about this one.
Could you survive on your own, with no help.
Or with people who had knowledge to bring to the table.
Why should our story go on to the next chapter.
Or do you not have the courage.
To Learn.
To Experience.
To Know.
