What is the deal with this rude beahavior?! I mean come on, it's bad enough I have to listen to your conversations in the elevator & of course you're speaking louder than normal b/c everyone has "cell yell" when they're on their phones, and now I'm trying to relieve myself & have a little bit of privacy & while you're yapping to whoever, they're hearing me pee - gggrrrrr! Ok, so how I feel is obvious, what do you guys think? lol.

Why can't all believers and non believers discuss without predudice to the views of the other person?
I'm an atheist. If I want to learn about the evolution of the Platypus ( something I know nothing about ) I check what those who study that subject have to say, and tentatively accept it as true without demanding any other proof.

Religious people do the same. They consult books on the subject of God, or ask priests. We are no different in HOW we came to believe as we do , just in WHAT we believe.

We cannot morally force others to our viewpoint. I'll come in here and ask questions about things I want to more about from those who have studied. Let's stop using Yahoo as a soapbox to undermine one another.

be assured of eternal paradise?

Wouldn't this really be the ultimate sacrifice? Even greater than that of Jesus?

Not a day goes by without evidence of some stupidity on the part of humans. Do you think this is our basic state and that some people never move out of it? What's the stupidest thing on your list done by a human today? Mine is a cab company called "Golden Star Cab" that painted their cabs GREEN and white, even the stars are green. Why would you name your cab company "Golden Star" and then paint the stars green?

(just so I can beat you to the punch, i fully expect the smart@sses to say the stupidest thing on their is this question but my come back is then you just proved your @ss is even more stupid for answering what you deem to be a stupid question)

I'm black, as you can guess by my Avatar, and I live (for about 2 years now) in a predominantly white (if we classify things by race) neighborhood of Southern California. Why do I get the feeling that my neighbors don't like me? I'm not driving down their property values just by exisiting, but the looks I get when I step outside my door tells me that they think otherwise. I feel like kids are askin their parents "Mommy is she a chocolate human?" Im not paranoid...I know those looks are being given, my question is why?

I know Voltaire said: "God made man in His own image and man promptly returned the compliment". Seriously though.

The God of the O/T had human qualities, He said he felt jealousy , anger, bitterness at the ungratefulness of the Israelis : " How long will this people despise me? And how long will they not believe in me, in spite of the signs I have wrought among them?

Many people, even now, see every calamity from the Holocaust to AIDS to the loss of a football game, as the expression of God's anger and disappointment.

Some say he is non physical and formless but they also admit to seeing him in more concrete forms, even, some, see him as an old man in the sky.

What is your image?

If I ask a serious question about the workings of their religion they don't respond.
Except for a couple of those that just hit the copy and paste on a bible tract.
But if I diss them just a little bit they answer.
They call me names and stuff but at least they answer.
Why is that?

other cultures, other races, gender differences/biases, poor/rich gap, those who are uneducated, those who mentally or physically handicapped, sexual orientation differing from yours, being fat or thin? I am not looking for you to educate me. i just want to engender a discourse that will enlighten. Raised as a black female and parenting a child with special needs in North America has enlightened and uplifted me.

yes, I've gotten more then my share from life everything a teenager who sets out to achieve hopes to get, now these things bore me so I am redefining purpose, that is why I ask the questions, to find out what people are looking for, and what I can contribute. I could care less about myself, I want to help others, so what would help?

I'm gay, however, I also Identify as Queer. To me, it's a reclaimed word, one that used to be used offensively, but now i claim it as my own identity. To me, it means someone who embraces their sexuality. It can be used as an umbrella term to unite all Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered people as a community together.

So I'm wondering, for the GLBT people out there, what do you think of the word Queer?

I thought long and hard for years on this and I came up with my own definition for evil. I think it's accurate and want to know if anyone disagrees or has a better blanket definition.

I believe true evil is the choice of one's own WANTS at the expense of the NEEDS of others.

Anyone?
