Jesus rated sacrafice #1. He said - and I paraphrase - "No greater love has a man than to give his life for his friend".
The word sacrafice comes from the Latin 'sacra' 'face', meaning to make holy. To become holy is the ultimate goal of every human being, because "nothing unclean shall enter into it (heaven)" Rev.21:27.

I would rate obediance to the Lord over sacrifice. If you saw a person in need you would have to ask the Lord should you help that person. Even if it caused you to sacrifice. If you helped or sacrificed something on your own to help a person without asking God, you could be interfereing in Gods plan. He may have a trial for that person for His own divine purpose. Anyway, thats just a thought.

It depends on what you're sacrificing, for whom, and the reason (what you and/or the other person hopes to gain from it).
I think sacrifice is noble to a certain extent, but can be dangerous if taken too far, and sometimes is just plain absurd.
Sorry for such a vague answer, but the question is so broad...

Depends on whether the sacrifice is a virgin or a goat...sacrificing a virgin gets you more points in the long run (as in the afterlife) but can land you in some serious hot water in this life. A goat is less impressive to the mighty thunder gods, but slightly less likely to get you life in prison.
