No, Jesus would not fight. He said that his followers were to love their enemies, not fight or kill them. He said we should pray for those who persecute us. Christians will therefore not take up arms against anyone. God assures us that he will take vengeance on all those who do not adhere to his righteous requirements. In the Hebrew Scriptures, God allowed wars to be fought to vindicate his name and to execute divine justice in behalf of his servants. When his Son Jesus was sent to earth, Christians were told to fight, not against flesh & blood but against Satan and his demons, The next war that God will wage will be at Armegeddon, with his Son leading the fight against all wickedness.

No. Jesus would not take up arms for this, or any other country in the world today. For one thing, Jesus taught peace. His instructions are for us to love one another, and that love is supposed to extend even to our enemies.
Where do you get the idea that God thinks of this country as "His people"? America is not, as I'm sure you've been told (especially if you've been in this forum) a Theocracy.
Jesus rules in a Theorcracy. His Kingdom is not of this world. When the time comes, He will lead His people into battle.
Meantime, maybe you should tell your Bible study class that Christianity and politics are not very good friends.

Heck, these days they are barely speaking to each other....

I really feel that Jesus, peace be upon him, would not choose to fight in a war. Too many innocent lives (those of children especially) are taken in war - and Jesus would never 'fight' a modern war where 'collateral damage' is so easy because it's more like playing a video game than actual man to man combat...

Of course not. Now, figure out why Jesus and the OT basically speak of different type of 'God"s.
