It says in the Bible "Call no man your father on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven. Neither be called masters, for you have one master, the Christ. He who is greatest among you shall be your servant. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted" (Matthew 23:9-12).

So are catholics wrong by doing this? Why are they allowd to call a man Father? Are they commiting sin ?

I've heard about this. In Western society we like to have fun at our weddings but the reception usually only lasts for one evening. I've heard that in other cultures whole communities celebrate the wedding for several days. Please give me some interesting information about the wedding customs of different cultures.

I know we all say that it's not okay to make fun of anyone. But think about it for a minute. Some groups it's more "socially acceptable" to make "cute" jokes about than others.

Topic: If you woke up one morning and found a 4-inch-tall man or woman sitting on your dresser, how would you react? What does this person look like? How did they get there? What would you do with them?

That's the exact question out of the book. Thanks in advance for the input!

So here's the problem: I do not believe in god, or any other higher power. I rely heavily on science and facts to explain the world. However, I admit to myself that I can't disprove the existence of a higher power. I don't personally believe there is one, but if there were one, and it didn't want us to know about it, then there really would be no way to. So, in the strictest definition of both words, would I be called an atheist or an agnostic?

Why are so many people coming up with wildly different interpretations? Are some people praying wrong?

I am not saying that life is useless, but that rather religion gives us something more than the reality that we are simply here because of physical laws. I thnk that is one reason for the popularity of religion. Some people are just uncomfortable with thinking they are merely a cosmic speck in the grand scheme of things. This also kind of relates to my previous question.

I swear that somewhere either Strunk and White or Modern English Usage taught me in college that only one of the following should be used and yet I see both in print. Which is right? Are both right? toward vs. towards I would have thought toward was the right one stemming possibly from to ward as in to ward off evil.....Thanks!

David Blaine has probably performed more miracles than Jesus. Did Jesus ever stand in a block of ice for three days?

Have you converted yet?

I mean, the banana, except for its lack of singing/dancing skills was so perfect. Why then did he make the coconut? I compared it to my mouth, forming an O and everything, and it won't fit. It's hard as a rock, and pretty high up in those trees. Plus, it's hairy! I just don't understand why God would make bananas so great, and just totally shaft us with these coconuts. Was God f&%king with us? Because if so, that makes me pretty damned mad!

Oh, and FYI... this guy is not showing you the atheist's nightmare. I don't know a better way to say this... but this is about the funniest "proof" of creationism that I've ever seen. I would hope that some of the more learned Christians out there realize that this is NOT helping their cause... :)

If the old testament no longer applies, are atheists no longer fools?

Psalms 14: 1
The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

Should I say "girl friend"? or "friend girl"?

I've an American female friend (but not a woman yet but a girl) which I not my girfriend. So, I'd like to know a way to refer to her. I've asked about it to herself but I ain't satisfied with her answer.

Ok?
