Mexmix: "willing to give a smile to everyone that crosses their path"????? GTFOH! No girl has EVER smiled at me. Ever. They usually give me a dirty look and pick up their walking pace as if I'm about to rape them or something.

kj, women usually close the door on me, never say thanks when I hold it open it for them, and no girl greets me with a smile, which is part of the reason I am so timid around females.

Years ago a female could catch the glance of a stranger and say "good morning", nowadays, that would be considered a "come on".

It is a hard question. Everyone says how the Mexicans are so polite and friendly. I have been there twice and when they say "good morning" or whatever they use a tone of voice that they are greeting you only becuase it is the polite thing to do. Or maybe they just use different tones than we do. I beleive here in the USA women can be cruel. If you aren't like them, or aren't a part of their group of friends they tend to look downward on you. At the same time there are plenty that are really nice and willing to give a smile to everyone that crosses their path.

I don't know WHERE you are getting your mis-information buster, but you're wrong. In fact, this question comes as a total surpise to me. I've always heard just the opposite, and am myself just the opposite. I'm a very friendly and hospitable person. I greet every body I see with a smile, I open doors for people behind me, I get into casual conversations with passing strangers. Not because I'm "expected" to or anything, it's just part of my personality. My door is always open, and I have enough dishes to be able to invite anybody to sit down and share a meal.

I am not sure about others, but I feel like I have to be firm so no one thinks they can walk all over me. I want to add that southern people are very nice.

If this is true, it's probably because we have to watch our backs so much.
American women can't be friendly with many people because you never know who is going to do you harm.
