I'm not picky, but I like a woman who is fit or at least average. I am 40 and retired Navy but am still fit and love to rock climb, scuba and hike, It seems almost every lady I meet around my age has let herself go and/or is looking for Mr. perfect. What has become of our american culture?

As a child, I found that I would have recurring visions of scenes and situations from past times. They often came up in my dreams, although some would also be triggered by mundane events, such as unwrapping a piece of chocolate. I believe that most of the memories stem from five past lives. I believe the oldest is a life in which I am a child viewing the northern lights. In another, I was a Roman soldier who was killed when a building collapsed on him. I also remember being a woman at a churchyard in the 1600's. I was also a boy, a blacksmith's apprentice, who was shoved into a furnace along with his master during the Revolutionary War (hence I hate war). Most memories stem from my immediate past life, in which I was a woman who lived from the 1880's to the 1960's. In that life, I started out in a rural area, received a college education, travelled to Europe, and died well-off. I would like to be hypnotized eventually to learn more about these lives.

Fantasy-related nicknames, over-the-top feminism, watered down New Age crap, arguments about the stupidest things and market mass media books are just some of the problems that I've found with this latest revival of the "Old Ways" (yet another retarded term). This has got to stop. The worse thing about all this is that its closely tied-in with Wicca. Do you people even stop to think about where Wicca comes from or what it's actual beleif system is?? Why is it that we cannot grasp concrete ideas that make up alot of other spiritual practices?
And how did we come to this, thinking that we're somehow pagan just because we light candles, dress in Renaissance replicated clothing and buy pagan paperbacks from corporate bookstores?
Whatever happened to the focus of community life, sex, blood, rebirth, death, all the things people call 'icky' and the actual LIVING off the land? Someone please tell me that I'm not the only one that can see this disturbing situation?

I am a Christian, but I have friends and loved ones across the spectrum from fundamentalist Christian to agnostic to complete atheist. I respect their right to decide their faith and I expect you to respect mine.
One thing I have always wondered is what do atheists believe as regards to the soul. They have measured the body at the exact time of death and found that there is a small drop in weight at that moment. People have then come back with "near death experiences".
How does this fit with atheism?
And please, answer me thoughtfully and with science (I married an engineer and my grandfather was a well-known scientist in his field). I really do want to understand.

Let's have a look at some of the christian areas in the world and see why they are christian.

Africa

European christians invade Africa, kill hundreds of thousands, enslave others, steal land, destroy local traditions and beliefs and replace them with christianity.

North America / Australia

European christians invade, steal land from the native population, nearly wipe out the native population and then come in such droves as to come to completely dominate the area after several generation.

Central America / South America / Phillipines

European christians invade, kill hundreds of thousands, enslave others, steal land, destroy local traditions and beliefs and replace them with christianity.

It's a sad fact the christian missionaries played an important role in this massacre of people and of tradition and culture all in the name "god".

The spread of christianity worldwide doesn't quite seem as glorious now does it ?

Islam doesn't fare much better.

In the Old Testament, god talks through a burning bush. He turns a staff into a snake, makes the Nile a river of blood, with no life in it.. And he kills every first-born in Egypt, with exception to those that have goat's blood (!) on the door. All because his Kanaan people aren't allowed out of Egypt, out of slavery. When the pharaoh does let them go, after being scared and hurt so much, he goes mad - chases the godly people to the sea and ends up drowning. Suppose this all actually happened.

Now here's a question: If you'd been in Egypt at that time, would you believe this a god, a devil, a daemon, or would you be too scared to think?

Life extention will happen, either through rejuvenation or memory transfer into a clone.

As religion is based around death and the afterlife, will religion survive in the time of eternal life and no death. And if it does, how will it change?
