When saying the current year, why do people say "2000 and 6"? Nobody ever said 1990 and 6, or 1870 and 6, so why 2000 and 6?

I have a friend who has a younger sister who is 25 years of age. She can be nice when she wants to but, when she gets her period it set her off she start cussing and yelling at you for a long time. The younger sister lives with her mother, father, and older sister. She usually starts having meltdowns when she has her period. That is what I have been told. Also, I cannot really avoid her at times, because I like the older friend who is my sister and neither of us drive. The mother drives us to go over to their house because we are taking a dance class so, we have to study there place and sometimes watch tv.
My house is not good because there is usually a three year old child there and a twelve year old who usually have friends over they are noisy. Sometimes she goes with us to the movies I do not know when she goes. Because the family does not tell me. Also she works the grave yard shifts. She refuses to take meds for her PMS. I'm getting annoyed by her. Is this unacceptable?

I am a Christian, (Catholic to be exact), but I do not accept all the dogma, because some of it is simply silly. For example, the teaching that the only way that we can be saved is to accept and acknowledge Christ to be our Savior. In other words, no matter how good and compassionate a life you lead, unless you accept and acknowledge Christ to be your savior, you are doomed! Please tell me that this isn't so. For example,

1. What happens to the baby who lives only 1 hour after it is born, then dies without having accepted Jesus?

2. What happens to the mentally retarded who do not have the ability to even understand what this is all about, and dies without accepting Jesus?

3. What happens to the child who is born in a village deep in the mountains of Indonesia where the only faith is the Muslim faith, and who dies without even having heard of Jesus?

Just can't see these people not being saved, if they have otherwise lived a good and humanitarian life. What do you say?

Please don’t let this scare you, but I think I am falling in love with you. Every time I see you my heart beats so fast that I have to remind myself to breathe. Do you know how mesmerized I am when I watch you sleep? I stare at your face and try to memorize every detail. I love how you unconsciously cuddle up to me when you are sleeping. Do you realize that you hold me while you are sleeping, as if you never want to let me go? I love lying there in your arms watching you sleep and listening to your heartbeat. I play with your hair and breathe in your essence. I love how you always smell exactly the same. It reminds me of the way the forest smells after it has rained and the sun shines again. This morning when I awoke I was so angry at myself for falling asleep. I can’t believe I missed the opportunity to sleep the whole night with you. I hope I have that chance again soon. I want you to be the first person I see when I wake up. I want to be the one who sees your first smile of the morning. I don’t know why I have these feelings for you when we have only known each other a short time. I only know it feels wonderful. I know you probably do not share these feelings; you probably think I am a fool for confessing this. That’s ok. I just couldn’t stop myself from telling you how happy you make me.

i have a friend and we both liked each other.. but he was trying to rush into a relationship, and starting touching me too much so i told him to stop that i needed respect from him and that i wanted to get to know him better. so he did. and we went out.. and i felt comfortable. but the thing is, now to hang out with him , it's like prying a tooth out.. i think i hurt his pride.. what do i do?

I mean, I'm there to listen to the word of God, not be instructed how to exercise my voting rights. Maybe, I missed it somewhere in the readings.... Did God instruct us on how to vote? What political party to be a part of? (I'm registered as an Independent by the way)

I believe in God - creator of all things.
(God created man in his own image...I have heard different interpretations of this but for myself, looking at the advancements of science, and the old saying History repeats itself. I think our creator could have been very similar to us.)
I believe in Jesus -the master and teacher of life.
I believe when we die our souls to be revealed as fruitfull or ruined, and be judged worthy of continued existence or annihilation.
I do not trust or believe in the religions created by man.
Man has been proven, in the past, to manipulate and interpret the Holy Scriptures to suit his own agenda.
Usually, greed or power of influence over the masses.

Ok, I go to church regulary with my daughter, my husband believes in God but isn't growing, this is tough for me. I keep stumbling and falling making mistakes, not reading my bible enough or sometimes my prayer life isn't what it should be, there is also times I bust my self cussing when I now least disire to. My shurch congreation is very small and isn't growing much and I was doing displeship till the person leading me can't meet at all in months, should I stay at that church or look onward at other churches and how do I keep stregthened when I am weak, you know when you feel so unworthy or so back slidden or alone and just can't get it together, I love Jesus and want to live life as he wants me too, and somehow help my husband growning too.
