Why is it we judge people on what they do to pay the bills?

Wouldn't the world just be intolerable if no-one cleaned the streets and we had to make our way through piles of rubbish everyday to get to our IMPORTANT jobs?

Anyone who has a job is contributing to society. And someone who handles the garbage does everyone a necessary service. They get rid of the garbage so that disease and germs do not spread. I think that's a necessary job in society.

People who look down on other's jobs because of what they do, are people who are insecure with themselves because they have to find someone to put down, to make themselves feel good.

They probably walk around thinking everyone really cares what they think anyhow, inflated sense of self importance. They're the ignorant ones.

They are some of the most important jobs..I don't think it matters what you do as long as you make an honest living. It's just that jobs that don't require much education are looked down upon. Not cool. I've had really crappy jobs--fast food, newspaper mail room, that didn't pay crap and I worked my butt off; now I do medical transcription, sit on my butt all day and make decent money. The difference--education. But I am the same person now as then, more or less!

Its only demeaning to people who think highly of themselves - the ego-trippers. Every job in the world shouldn't be demeaned or leveled up or low - because no one in the higher ups would be able to function or get anything done if there weren't people "below" them. Hope they get their egos wrapped in ziplock before they open their mouths regarding job levels. And if it wasn't that "important" of a job, why is it a job to begin with? If you didn't have dishwashers and busboys in a resto - you'd be eating out of paper plates or dirty dishes.

Having been raised VERY poor I never judge anyone by what they do to earn a living. It's how they treat the people they encounter every day that matters.

When you go out with people, the person who treats the waiter like dirt and everyone else like friends is someone you cannot trust.

I do not believe that their jobs are demeaning b/c where would we be w/o them? After all, it is not our place to judge ppl on what they do for a living; be grateful that they are working and not drawing welfare like the majority of the country.

This seems to be typical of those who feel they are somehow above others...I've never understood it. I would love it if those who work for people like that would just say 'Do it yourself for a while and when you appreciate me I'll be back.' That would be good for those people to have to do some of the "dirty work" for themselves.
