There is the firm grasp, extremely firm grasp, fisherman, wet noodle, wet palm, hand jive slaps, knuckles, high five, and then there are the secret organizational hand shakes.

Some people use the left hand (very awkward by the way), those who grab your hand in both of theirs and those who have your right hand in theirs and are holding your right arm in their left hand (to me a very aggressive and suspicious move).

I think it is a good idea. We can take them out for a walk in the park, buy them ice-cream, pat them on the head, and such.

But please remember not to immerse them in holy water---they might shrink.

God bless.

This isn't one of those questions that is going to change the world, but I just had to share because it would be funny if it wasn't SO, so sad.....

I just got off the phone with my local Mazzios calling to get a pizza delivered. I ordered a large thin crust cheese (complicated, I know) which I had to repeat THREE times (not kidding), then the guy on the phone says...."Uhhhh, I guess when we get there it'll be there."

So - what would your response be at this point (after you quit laughing)?

Being raised in a Christian home I always knew that when you died you would go to heaven or hell. So if you dont believe these are options, then what:?

My best friend eloped. She's having a reception to celebrate their marriage. She didn't tell her family or friends. Many of us will have to hop on a plane with less than 2 weeks notice to be at the reception. The reception is more like a party, serving hot dogs and burgers. It's all so informal, which is sort of nice.

But, I find myself struggling with their gift registry. Because everything is so informal, is a gift registry appropriate? I don't even know the groom and I'm her best friend...I find it weird. Thoughts?

We are not fighting for special attention. We are fighting for equal rights. We want to have protection if we break up with a life partner. We want hospital visitation rights. We want rights to receive a loved ones will. With all of the sex in the media, how you can look at two men holding hands and make a huge deal of it. There are no 'gay ideas' in government. There are plenty of christian ideas though. Why do you think that someone saying "we would like to get a loan on a house in both our names" forcing it down your throat? Your christian, you love everyone equally no matter how they choose to live. Gay people have all kinds of straight sex and christian rules forced onto them, why make a big deal of someone fighting to be treated equally.

and to say that we are is lie. Been called f*ggot too many times.

I have this Christian friend. He's a great guy and I love spending time with him, but he forces me to pray with him (like before we eat). I don't believe as he does. I respect his beliefs and I want him to respect mine. So what should I do? Is there any way to ask him to respect me without being rude or coming across as being mean?

I just finished a book by Sam Harris entitled "The End of Faith". Great book, and I encourage anyone with an open mind to check it out. The theory he poses is this:

If we don't do away with organized religion in modern society, it will inevitably be the end of us. Organized religion appears to be on the forefront of many of the major conflicts in the world right now, and ancient esoteric views don't seem to lend themselves to paradigm shifts very readily. In short, we're never all going to "just get along" unless we abandon these outdated worldviews.

I guess another way of putting it would be, if there were no Christians and Muslims, would we be fighting a "War on Terror"? What we appear to be fighting is a war on Islam, and they in turn a war on Christianity. The Islamic texts refer to any non-Muslim as an "Enemy of God", and a basic tennet of Islam is that the word of God (Allah) is supreme and to be taken as law. Thoughts?

When someone asked a question bout the KKK (a radical white power group) the whites are the first to insult them? Yet blacks are totally cool with black radical groups( now they seem obselete, but still would remain same)? The KKK fights for whites rights and quality of life, yet whites are totally against it. ( However radical groups such as the KKK are bad to society because of the attitudes towards many aspects, such as to blacks), but think like this, if there was a black version of the KKK, u think the blacks wud give a F?
