Not so much homophobia, but sexism yes. Educated men don't act that way, but many many men do not respect a lesbian relationship. They think women are lesbians only to satusfy mens fantasies and cannot comprehend how a woman can be satisfies without penis. They think the penis is the end-all to everything. As much as they worship it, one would think THEY are actually gay. I've heard men say lesbian's don;t exist, they just need to find the right man blah blah blah. When a guy tells me or my gf we haven;t found the right man, I tell him HE just hasn;t found the right man. They always stutter and make some homophobic remark. Then I ask, well if YOU donlt want a dude, why must WE? I'll tell ya what, you have sex with the same number of guys as I have THEN you tell me which one you recommend ok? Usually not too much to say after that lol.

We shouldn't be the victim of anything. The threat is that we can live without any men, so I suppose sexism would be the closer answer. Historically, men always consider themselves the superior sex. Generation by generation, we see this slowly start to be a more equality thing and there are a few sensitive men out there. Hopefully, the girl children in the future won't see some of the sexual injustices we've seen--and look how far we've come from suffrage!

I think it depends on a lot of different factors. There are alot of bigots that feel uncomfortable around anyone they know or perceive to be gay, so the homophobia kicks in. Then there are the bigots that act like ignorant, sexist bastards towards butch women because they perceive them as "wanting to be men". I can't really say in general that lesbians are victims or one more so then the other.

lesbians suffer much of the same as straight women...
i agree with beachbum that men tend to not take a relationship btwn two women as being real, especially if the two women are femmes
me and my girl have guys laugh at us all the time, telling us that we must be joking, or the "prove it" to them...of course by kissing in front of them...now who's the pervert??
and here's my question...why are there so many men answering this question??? wouldn't it make more sense for a lesbian to answer???

Sexism oh god yes!! It is so freaking annoying. I can't count the number of times I have had some nasty straight male ask to have a 3some, watch me and my sign. other, or sleep with his wife. It is disgusting.
I normally say, 'sure and afterwards let me watch you and your wife.' They normally get the idea then. Men do not seem to take a relationship between two women as serious. Not as serious as they see their marriages.
This is why I get so aggravated with all these women having sex with other women today just to please their men. It is ruining it for us lesbians.
I think straight males are convinced that women only exist to please them and they can't wrap their peon brains around some female not desiring to please them or not needing them to survive.
Years ago I was talking a manager and in the conversation (was about a lesbian couple he knew) I said, 'yea I plan to marry (my ex's name)). He looked at me then a few minutes later literally came out and ask me for sex. I looked at him and said, "what part of that conversation made you think I wanted sex with you?" He said, "why else would you have told me that?"
OMG!!! That's the kind of crap I have had to put up with all my life. I literally just try to avoid men completely now.
