You know who I'm talking about. If you say one thing wrong, they make you feel like an idiot. They are also very stubborn and condescending.

This girl just asked a question about how she could straighten out her life. I told her to realize what needs to change, and work on it in small steps.
The theists, however, just told her to pray and all she could do was accept Jesus and hope for better times. Is that really good advice?
I find it to be really bad myself. I feel that one should take charge of their life instead of hoping/praying that some supernatural deity will change your life.

Anyhow .. i am the big 3-0 next month, and basically my 20s have been a bit random. I got a PhD and have worked in South Korea and NZ, but not much of a career structure or community... so I am taking a job near my hometown. Should you keep on doing random things when you get older, or just fit them into weekends. Did the big 3-0, come to a shock to anyone else, or is it easy to accept. I'm basically single, useless at DIY and still live like a stewdunt.

I understand that people get better- but usually it is over time and with medication. My mom was on her death bed and the Dr.'s had already decided there was nothing more they could do. That afternoon was the same diagnosis from her Dr. and the test revealed the same- that night she was healed and the very next day there was nothing more in her body. That is not remission. That is not the work of your mind.
People don't just go from their "death bed" to not in one night. Tests don't show clear in one night. If your mind could heal you then a lot more people would be getting better. Her brother just died of cancer and he was in remission twice.That was a long jurney to get into remission. I was with him the last week he was alive. This is different. No medication was taken to make her better and no medication would make things disappear over night- much less give her the ability to walk with no problem from one min. to the next. Especially when she couldn't walk for month

What if tomorrow, say between 10 am and 12pm central time, we reverse our positions.

I and fellow no creationists were to argue for a literal interpretation of the Genesis and the Bible, asking questions as real believers in Jesus,

and what if those of you who believe in Jesus and don't believe in evolution were to ask questions from the perspective of an evolutionist who just doesn't get Jesus.

I mean this sincerely, what if we did that, honestly, a serious effort, not a comical one, to put ourselves in the shoes of "the other side".

And what if we used all our mental powers and spiritual powers to be that other person we come here and look forward to seeing and knowing they will ask a question about "the other side"

What would happen if jim_darwin asked "Doesn't this prove Jesus" or if Don S or mainworry asked "Doesn't this prove evolution"

What do you think would happen if this happened

Please post your examples of contradictions in the bible. I don't understand why people believe in it word for word when in one place it contradicts another. Obviously, one of them has to be wrong.

No offense or anything - I'm half-Filipino myself - and I really admire the beauty of the alphabet, but while browsing through a Japanese gift store (The DAISO, for all who know) the other day, I was intrigued... how do the people remember how to write and draw their own alphabet? I found myself struggling to even learn one letter, and I'm full of admiration for the people who have to learn a lot of this wonderfully creative pictographic alphabet. Any insight would be appreciated.

Interesting fact: 1 in 10 Americans abstain from sex, but only 1 in 50 abstain from TV...anyway, I went about a year and a half without TV, because I couldn't stand the depressing, biased 'news', vapid shows, celebrity worship, omnipresent commercials and unoriginal sitcoms. How about you?

I lust after an early 90s Porsche 911, full stop- jet black, targa top turbo with the tea-tray spoiler and all the trimmings.

Finally, after 20 years of dreaming I can finally afford one- morally, though, do you think I should get one?

Yes, it is my dream car and yes, I've wanted one for 20 years and yes, after all this time I've finally saved up enuogh to buy one.

But I really started wanted one before I learned about fuel consumption and the oil crisis, and I honestly don't think I could run one with a clear conscience knowing that I'm burning up so much petrol every time I take a cruise down to the coast.

What do you think?

People say evolution disproves god and i don't understand how it does, because the only thing i can conclude is that it disproves adam and eve, and I am Roman Catholic and i was always taught that bible stories were meant for they message not true fact, so how does e3volution disprove god?
