No way should he be put to death. I was glad that Zacharias Moussaoui did not get death, his fellow prisoners will take care of him. Let Saddam rot in jail, not get off easy with a quick, painless death.

First of all he should be given a fair trial for the real crimes he committed, and not the kind of rigged kangaroo court he is facing currently over trumped-up charges.
It is obvious that the Shia faction in Iraq and the US government want to see Saddam Hussein dead. The Shias as an act of revenge, and the US administration to prevent him from talking about the past, when the USA were his great ally and Donald Rumsfeld visited and hugged him in Bagdad.
Personally I am against the death penalty, in general and on principal reasons. No one has the right to take another person's life, no individual and no state.
So should Saddam Hussein be found guilty in a fair trial, he should receive a fair sentence. That is the only way to show that things have changed in Iraq. Executing him would make him a martyr for a large group of already angry people and prolonge the civil war in Iraq.

Saddam should be given the death penalty for his crimes against his own countrymen. If that is the easy way out, so be it. At least he will not be able to come back into power and do it again. And it will end the mockery he has made of justice in the Middle East.

A new reality TV show... Piggy Saddam.
It's like Big Brother except its set in the heartland of middle America and Saddam has to live in a pig sty with 6 amourous female pigs and 6 angry and horny male pigs. Just to make it all interesting, Saddam has had several of his organs replaced with those of a pig too.
And lets give him a pigtail too.
I think I read somewhere he doesn't like pork, which is why I'm going for the "pig" sales pitch.

The truth is no one know exactly what type of man Saddam really is. We only go by what Americans have said to us. Maybe if we all traveled and saw for ourselves then we can give a reasonable answer to your question.

He is a big *** hole but were the U.S. were not going to stick him with pins or cut off his nuts and feed it to dogs. A respectable death by lethal injection will do.
Ok people he isn't going to be a martyr because he doesn't have a so called "cause" (no oppressing people is not a cause) plus if he is killed he will stop getting what he doesn't deserve, all this media attention, kill him people will stop talking about him. The fact that were asking and answering this question glorifies him.

I don't believe in the death penalty except in the most extreme cases which usually involve kids and cold-blooded, planned out murder....so suffer in a really tough prison

The death penalty would be wrong on two counts. One, if he is killed, he will not suffer. Also, the few remaining supporters of his will create more havoc than is present now.
