I don't know that it would be such a problem. I mean, you send the email through YA, so it's not like you know their exact email. And just phrase it nicely. Say "Hello, you don't know me, but I find you interesting and wondered if we could talk?" Then invite them to look at your profile. The world needs more friends, that's for sure!

I don't think its rude, I think its a great Idea, network with people, socialize, whats so wrong with emailing them, its just the same as answering their question. I guess you would just have to ask them if they would mind. If they have there email on here that most likely means you are free to email them.

I've made quite a few friends that way. I always read the emails I get and then I respond. The people I have met have really been a positive addition to my life. Do what feels right to you.

If they don't want to be emailed, they won't enable that option in their profile.
And I'm sure that if they're emailed by someone from whom they don't wish to hear, they have a way of blocking those messages. Or they can enter the YA witness protection program.
Go for it!

nothing wrong with trying to make new friends...if you want to email them then do. If they don't respond then they don't want or need any new ones...just be nice and send them a couple lines.

I might scare them a little bit.. and they might not want to communticate with you because they don't know you, and a lot of bad things are happening a lot with rapists and all.... so you might want to be careful. Don't say anything like "you want to meet at the mall sometime" lol.

I don't think so. Just explain where you got their email, and go from there. I think its a good way to find new internet friends.
But be warned, many people nowadays will just delete your mail if they don't know you.
