It's commonly held that city-dwellers build 'barriers' around themselves, both emotionally, mentally and, I'm presuming, physically.

People say that city life hardens you up, in an adverse way. It makes you distant, self-centred and obsessed with the materiality of things. (Commonly held views, not my own opinion).

Now I'm a country lad (UK, Dorset), at Uni in Exeter (a city) and so far I'm finding this to be true. Just wondering what anyone else thought?

No offence intended!

I think it is "roz e tavalod e tabreek". is that correct? I wish to make a birthday card for 6th July and would like to embroider the correct phrase in persian script on the front.

why do people get so offended when you ask religious questions on here? who said im judging or saying i'm right just because i ask. it seems to me,(and this is me judging now) that you would not be so upset if you were confident that you were right. its possible that you question yourself if you are so emotional about a subject you seem to be so sure about.

Seriously, I'm a good guy, attractive, smart, friendly, all that jazz. The big problem is that I live in a small southern rural community where being gay is seen as worse than being racist. I barely know any gay guys, and for me, they're just more acquaintances that might be willing to hook up with me but I'm not interested in just sex. I don't have any good gay friends. So does anyone have any solutions? Should I look into moving to New York lol? It's just depressing seeing the same heterosexual losers talking about how they're in love blah blah blah and I haven't even ever been on a real date.

I am just wondering how would you explain this story if you don't believe in God, miracles, or anything wonderful that he does in our lives. ( Please remember that he does not heal everyone and everyone has their own time to go be with the Lord, or not. That is part of his plan. Everyone has to die at some point. So please don't say, then why doesn't he heal everyone.)
Here is my story-
When I was little my mom had MS and was about to die. She could no longer walk, or do anything for herself. My dad and her best friend came and got her from the hospital and took her to a revival. That night she went to the alter and she was healed. No lie, she got up and walked and then ran around the building. She went back to the Dr.'s and they could find absolutely nothing wrong with her. She has never had another problem or anything to do with MS again. Explain that if there is no God. It has been almost 30 years.

They are a business with operating expenditures and income. The product they are purveying is immaterial but so is what we pay psychologists and psychiatrists for, as well as paying to listen to 'motivational speakers'....... business is business, isn't it?

Most people accept everything they hear from scientists as strict facts. It does not even occur to them that scientists may also have various philosophical or ideological prejudices. However, it is a common misconception; for example, some evolutionary scientists impose their prejudices and philosophical views on the public under the guise of science. For instance, although they are aware that random events do not cause anything other than irregularity and confusion, they still claim that the marvellous order, plan, and design, seen both in the universe and in living organisms, arose by chance.

So said various people when looking at quotes...

"thou shall not bear false withness"(trash talking). I guess it's progressive to talk behind peoples backs and talk trash. Works for the gossip mags.

"do not covet". (Keeping up with the "Jones" will only leave you BROKE)

"do not commit adultery"(with all the STD's, AID's, shattered relationships based on sex, etc, we have made a LOT of progress here)

Is it really outdated, or is it also an inconvienient truth?

Canada, last summer joined several other countries in approving and legalizing Same-Sex-Marriage. I'd ask the relegious right and left to avoid references to scripture as this was a political move, not a relegious one. Avoid slandering please, as it realy shows one's stupidity and there will be people out there interested in reading the responcess. Let's keep this clean...my thanks in Advance!!
