What if tomorrow, say between 10 am and 12pm central time, we reverse our positions.

I and fellow no creationists were to argue for a literal interpretation of the Genesis and the Bible, asking questions as real believers in Jesus,

and what if those of you who believe in Jesus and don't believe in evolution were to ask questions from the perspective of an evolutionist who just doesn't get Jesus.

I mean this sincerely, what if we did that, honestly, a serious effort, not a comical one, to put ourselves in the shoes of "the other side".

And what if we used all our mental powers and spiritual powers to be that other person we come here and look forward to seeing and knowing they will ask a question about "the other side"

What would happen if jim_darwin asked "Doesn't this prove Jesus" or if Don S or mainworry asked "Doesn't this prove evolution"

What do you think would happen if this happened

It is an interesting idea, but do you reallly understand where the other side is coming from? Have you read any good books written by creation scientists?

What if evolution and Davine creation are the same thing? What if the bible has been changed so much over time that the 7 days of creation were actually a very long period of trial and error. Or perhaps 7 days to god is not the same as 7 days to us. In the end it really doesn't matter what we believe, we can only be good and hope for the best possible situation when we die. (which would be an after life Paradise)

Do you really think that either side would learn anything or change their point of view? As a creationist, I think it might be interesting as long as the questions/answers were serious and not comical. I just don't think that that's going to happen. Too many dumb heads out there who'll be looking for reactions. I don't care to dip my pen into that!
I have a question, so maybe I'll come back tomorrow and post it. Good luck with this Jim!

Being a Libra I can usually argue either side, but I'm afraid my arguments for evolution would not be very compelling.I can't even imagine how to argue the non-existence of Christ. I have given your question thought, but find myself unable to help you out tomorrow. While the evolutionists won't sway my beliefs,I still look forward to the questions and arguments posed tomorrow.

Hmm... sounds like a pretty interesting idea!

I think it would be very hard for some people to handle, as they have never tried looking outside their own narrow worldview before. For those of us who can at least concede some of the other side's points, however, I think it would be fun and thought-provoking. I don't know if I'll be able to, but I'll try to drop by around ten tomorrow to see how the "backwards battle" is raging!

(P.S. Kiss me; I'm creationist!)

That'd be interesting, and has the possibility of making ppl think. However, it's only a possibility. I doubt it'd actually work too well though, because there's bound to be smartasses just making fun of the whole thing. It's sad though, because both sides could really learn a lot about tolerance from it.

(I'd participate if I could, but I don't really fall under either category. :P)

Evolutionist and creationist are blindly faithful to their own theories. Your plan would achieve little. Evolutionist need to recognize that the huge gaps of knowledge in their theory require a "faith" on their part that equals the religious fanaticism of the creationist, and open their minds to variations on their theory. Creationists need to be patient. The evolutionist are doing their work for them.

Interesting, have to think.
It might be a learning experience.
If the Believer's pray for Wisdom and Knowlege befor hand(privately), it could get pretty interesting. Both side's might learn alot if GOD's watching over.

I think this is a very good idea but I'm not sure the creationalists will go for it because they tend to be more close-minded and dont want to see things from any other perspective that their own. That's just my hypothesis but let's see if they respond...

it wouldn't be much different for me. I spend a great deal of time questioning the teachings of organized religion. I seek to prove that God exists with genuine morals. and that he doesn't need 10% or my meager fiances. That there is good in this world and the next.
