Your concerns, suggest that Porsche and many other motor car manufacturers should go into liquidation to help save the planet. That, of course, would make a lot of people redundant.
The same arguament could be made for many luxury goods that require oil for their manufacture. Should we buy them? Shouldn't we just choose to exist at subsistence level, so as to minimise the consumption of scarce resources? How far do we regress?
You will probably find that many people who drive porsches, and I was one, do not use them as runarounds, precisely because, they are expensive to run. Remember also, that the government collects an awful lot of tax revenue from car drivers. If you bought a cheaper car you would probably use it more, so you would consume more fuel in that way.
Even if we all lived at subsistence level, oil would eventually all be used up. So the real answer is to find an alternative.
Let me put a question to you. Do you trust all those who are pushing the "Green Agenda" and Using, as they do, emotional blackmail and questionable science to try to alter our behaviour.
I feel sure, that many within their ranks are simply the usual anti- capitalist left wingers. Using green issues as an umbrella to pursue their agenda.
Remember, the earth doesn't have a heart and soul, it doesn't care if we use up all the oil. The earth has apparently existed for about five billion years, so, it has proved that it can take care of itself, and will go on doing so unless, and until, a very big meteorite hits it. Or we humans are despatched in some other way, regardless of what we do about oil.
I think that we humans should be a lot more concerned about our spiritual development, rather than trying to take on board, as individuals, global issues.
Here we are, worrying about oil, when our behaviour as a nation suggests that we are in terminal moral decline. We ought to be a lot more concerned about that. But then, Green secularists seem lees concerned with moral and spiritual matters.
We all, from time to time, need a reward. So go and live your dream and refuse to succumb to emotional blackmail.

Well, I'm all for acheiveing your dreams, but if the worries about the environment are going to stop your pure enjoyment of your dream car, then perhaps just keep the dream as it was and get a more environmentally sound car. Dull, but worthy.
Could you afford to have the Porche 911 and use it only very occasionally for a treat, and use the greener option the rest of the time? If you have the money, that might be another option.
Sadly m'dear, no one can really decide but you!

buy one but go for a 1989 911, they are the run out models before they changed the shape and model number, which werent as good, or as well made.
chk for wear and tear on the interior as the targa's seemed to wear a lot more than the coupe's
also look for rear end damage as alot of them suffered from being back ended into a hedge.
i have seen them on the market from 10k to 30k so good luck sorting that one out, but buy one as you only live once, i nearly bought one a while ago but bought a Harley instead, and i wished that i had the 911, whale tail and all !!

In my opinion, a dream is a dream...
And you better do not allow anyone to interrupt a think like dream for you...
I know what people and family is saying cause the same happens to me...
That is the stupidest way to spend money, 2 mins after you brought it will cost 15% less.., bla, bla, bla, (envy...that is it)
Do not let this affect your decision and go for it... Your dream worth it...
