If a pastor/Father/Preacher told you to jump off the bridge to be saved, how many followers would do that? Or if told that GOD told you to kill certain people that have committed a terrible sin? Why would GOD ask a religious follower to force influence/force a certain religious belief to strangers and make general assumptions about certain people because of the way they live, appear, ethnic background?

There is something terribly wrong with todays churches and religions. I think Satan is pulling the strings with all these churches on Earth, and GOD has nothing to do with it.

Ive kind of been wondering this. I believe in god, but I dont consider myself to be a christian. I believe christianity has strayed far from where god intended for it to be. I see it being used to control and hurt people. I also see people being excluded from the religion. Therefore I disconnected myself from it, and want nothing to do with it.

I just threw this out there and just wanted some feedback.

Dragons have been proven real in recent years due to a perfectly-preserved in the Carpathian Mountains. The one I am talking about is the dragon of western myth which could fly and breathe fire. What about all other mythical creatures? Could they have been real at some point too or was based on fact?

My best friend considers himself atheist. I love my best friend but everytime we talk about God he asks me those tough questions and I shy away because I don't want him to feel like I'm judging him. I'm not sure how to go about speaking with him about it though I really want to.

As you approach a town to attack it, first offer its people terms for peace. If they accept your terms and open the gates to you, then all the people inside will serve you in forced labor. But if they refuse to make peace and prepare to fight, you must attack the town. When the LORD your God hands it over to you, kill every man in the town. But you may keep for yourselves all the women, children, livestock, and other plunder. You may enjoy the spoils of your enemies that the LORD your God has given you

Do you guys believe that Jesus died for us all and took on all of our sins? Do you think we will go to heaven if we have been saved?

I'm not judging. If you are not Mormon and do not know what they believe PLEASE don't be a jerk and make stupid comments. I am really interested in any information anyone can give. Thanks. :)

Am I alone in thinking that if a movie is such a big threat to your faith, then you don't have much faith at all? I remember during the uproar over the Last Temptation of Christ, questioning a parishioner about why she wanted me to sign a petition against the movie. "Because it's horrible."

"Have you seen it?" I asked.

"No."

"Well then how can you tell me its horrible?"

She pulled the petition away and said, "You're not old enough to sign anyway."

I finally saw the movie on video and wondered what the fuss was about. I found it a thought provoking meditation on what Christ's life might have been like, and the "bad" parts merely boring.

he goes through the 10 commandments and asks if you have broken them. I have basically done all of them except for murder. It just made me feel like a bad person, and that sin is inevitable and that there is nothing I can do about it. Anyone else feel this way?

Free will. Wouldn't it make more sense if god didn't let war happen, even if it takes away from our free will? If you're 10 year son somehow got his hands on a loaded gun, would you let him play with it, or would you take it away? If you take it away, you also take away his free will, because he CHOSE to play with that gun. It's worth it though, taking it from him may have saved his or someone else's life. If god really is our parent, our "father", then why doesn't he do this?

He should, allowing evil in order to allow free will is immoral and wrong.
