Dragons have been proven real in recent years due to a perfectly-preserved in the Carpathian Mountains. The one I am talking about is the dragon of western myth which could fly and breathe fire. What about all other mythical creatures? Could they have been real at some point too or was based on fact?

The bible does mention unicorn's unless you got the version that changed them into donkeys..But yes they could all have been real..I think Unicorn's became those whales with the horns (narwhal) when they missed the boat..

Well, science has proven that the existance of dragons was realy more than likely the leftover dinosaurs (and no one disputes that dinosaurs existed)
lets face it, without modern technology what would you call a big lizards stomping around? a dragon, right?
as far as other mythical creatures go, most of them are based in animals that are either still around, or on cross breeds with what animals may have looked like had they bred (ex. gryphon eagle+lion)
that being said, all myths have always been based in some fact, and have only been exaggerated thru history to be more and more farfetched.
there are many people who belive very strongly about these issues. I am one of them.
I will not post my metaphysical beliefs here as it would take pages of time, but if you search around on the search engines, you will find vast communities of people who believe in "mythical" creatures.
adieu, and good luck

Did you watch that Discovery Channel program on dragons by any chance? It was a fictional program presented in a documentary style that had an unfortunate tendancy not to make clear that it was fictional. At any rate, dragons didn't really exist. It has been suggested in various contexts that dragons may have been based on a real-life creature, possibly dinosaurs, but there is no conclusive evidence to support this.

Many mythical creatures are thought to be inspired by real-life creatures. For example, mermaids were probably based on manatees, and unicorns on antilope or other horned horse-like animals seen in profile. But none of them existed in any form recognizable as the creature that is portrayed in mythology.

I think most of them must have been based on someone's imagination. Stories and songs were people's only entertainment at the time, so the more fantastical the story--the better everyone liked it!
It doesn't really matter where the idea for these creatures came from. Some of them are pretty interesting! But they should be viewed as myth---not fact.

If dragons were large enough to threaten humans it would be wise to follow this advice: Beware the affairs of dragons for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup. In the case of the Unicorn, its well known that they would only allow a virgin to tame them, and there were no virgins on Noahs Arc. As to the little people, if you ask then nicely they will return what you lost and can't find.

Dragons are authentic tho we don't have any evidence of there existence its nonetheless achievable. and to the fellow who reported they couldn t ever have breathed fireplace I say to you what about the creatures accessible that can spit poison or acid from there mouthes. they have of direction developed a organic defence for it and with each and each and every of the legends accessible that were made lengthy earlier any commerce routs were favourite why can t they have been authentic. i'm a large believer contained in the existence of dragons and sure they do stay in a distinct measurement in spite of the undeniable fact that that's in part because of darkish magic that grow to be used on there species in the previous.

You are either lying or ignorant. Dragons do not exist. Provide a peer-reviewed piece from a scientific journal in which dragons are shown to have existed, and then we will discuss the ramifications of such a discovery.

At the end of that documentory, they pointed out that they hadn't found any dragons at all! It was just a made-up story! Waaaaahhhhh!!!!!
By the way, Mikey, those bats, squids, and spiders are in a "documentary" about the FUTURE of earth! Come on!

Yes, I believe dragons (and other 'mythical' creatures) exist, but I feel they live in the astral realm, not here in our mundane plane. I don't have time to explain my reasoning, but if you visit my website (it's listed on my profile) you can e-mail my husband and he will explain it to you. He's somewhat of a dragon expert.

Lol, i saw the same thing on tv (Like a long time ago) It was quite realistic. Please not that i also saw something about future evolution which included giant bats, intelligent squids and metallic coloured spiders... Also realistic (not as much, but even so) and also fictional. Though theoretically, they COULD have existed... maybe... but there would have to be SOME evidence, right? I havnt seen much.

I don't know if they were real or not but I certainly do believe that they were or there was something similiar to them on the earth - every bit of fantasy has some reality in it according to my way of thinking.
